I decided that my snake didnt have enough hide or climb so i figured id get crafty. So this is what I came up with :) its 33" long, and 10 inches wide, it was made with 99 cent 2x2x42" from lowes (5 of them) and the fake fine from the dollar tree (6 of them) and I was able to come up with this :)
Before I started covering it I took a pic( You cant see in the picture but it is totally covered :)

Very nice! I did a similar thing with dowels, got the idea from here. Ala loves it! She's out in the open a LOT more now. In fact, the last time she shed, she even hung out on it when she was blue and only hide the day she actually shed. Hope your little one enjoys his new loft too! :)

Wonderful idea. And cheap. And relatively easy looking to do. I think I have a new project for little Plissken! Thanks for sharing.

That's really cool! I thought, from the first pic, without anything for scale, it was going to be a super-cool tank stand.

thanks everyone. It was super easy to make and cheap. My snake does love it. He has been out ALOT more since I put it in their too. :)

This is so awesome. I love using the otherwise wasted height of an enclosure. I'm totally going to have to give it a shot and try making something similar :D

I must say, I love this. My hatchling redefines 'semi-arboreal', so something like this above his bend-a-branches would be awesome. I'm just wondering if it'll mess with the heat in the viv, since I don't use a UTH

It looks lovely. I might have to make one!

A few concerns come to mind, but I think all of them can be addressed:

- If the snake likes it too much, and ends up staying up on the climbing structure and thus doesn't get belly heat when needed. My guess is this would only happen if the leaves on the climbing structure end up being the best hiding places it can find. As long as you have good hides down where the belly heat is, this shouldn't be an issue.

- I wouldn't recommend it to be built too tall, just in case the snake falls off it. Corns would probably be pretty good about this as long as there is plenty of stuff to grip onto when climbing up and down. Some other snake species (BPs I know from personal experience, and probably others) will sometimes choose to climb if given the opportunity, but don't have the proper balance and/or dexterity to get themselves back down safely.

- Cleaning it could be a real pain. Do you have a plan for how to clean & disinfect it when it gets pooped on and maybe a couple of times a year regardless of any visible dirt?

have had no issues at all. He comes up and down it as he pleases, mostly sleeps up top, and in all I see him so much more.

I personaly am not concerned. He has ALOT of climbing stuff in his tank so that I am not worried about. It comes out really easy so all I have to do is hose it off and sit it in the bathtub to soak. as far as heat goes I havnt yet picked him up and he was cold. He is just a hatchling and he feels super secure in his tank now. Before I would never see him out during the day but now he is all over the place. I think its b.c with his new climb in there he now feels safer. It provides so much more hiding space

I really love this! I am setting up some long pieces of driftwood in my vivarium that easily reach the top of the tank, or I would otherwise definitely try to play off of this idea.

I love that you've utilized the vertical space that would be otherwise wasted. It also makes the entire vivarium look a lot fuller and more natural with all of that extra foliage. You did an amazing job!
