sudden aggression

I know there are alot of theses already but i havent found a thread to fit my scinario

Mynadult male corn is about 4yrs old 4 1/2feet long and i have had him for almost 2yrs, nothing in his viv has changed and his temps are 82 degrees on the warm side and 74 on the cool side. He has suddenly ( in the last week) become very deffensive /agressive, he rattled his tail at me and has struck me twice while reaching in to handle him. He has also bit me after handeling him for a while...

He has always been quite docile up till recently any idea why he would change? And so severly?

He did mate with my female last march for the first time and they share an encloser, but he did not show any bad behavior previous to the past week. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

From what little time I've been in here, I'd wager that someone will quickly point out the fact that you shouldn't have both snakes in the same vivarium (even if they've mated). It's very stressful to them both and they should have their own homes.

Please elaborate y i shouldent have them together. They where together when i got them so i have never thought anything about it and kept them together, and they never showed any issue.

He could be going into blue/shed. Only thing I can think of right now, but you might want to see what more experienced people have to say...

There are a lot of threads here with horror stories involving having two snakes in the same viv.but I have heard some people say they think it's okay as lonhg as they are always fed. There is also an issue with breedingb to young but I don't think that applies to you. In my opinion if it can be avoided it should be. Why take the chance with one or both of their lives?

Thankyou so much for sharing this i will have to seriouly think about seperating them... Could this be the cause of my males agression?

Thanks im going to get another tank thisweekend and i will seperate them i realy dont wanna take a chance and with him being agressive i would rather him be in his own viv to see if it improves his attitude thanks again everyone for your resonses :)
