opinion if ya'll think this ball python is under weight

So last night I asked my brother to go pick up a snake for me !!
Its a ball python. I know we on a corn website but you've all helped me so much in the past I just prefer to come her.
She is only a year old, I haven't seen her my self because I live far from my brother and the ball was a bargain.
So I know for a fact she isn't shy to eat as she is in shed now and the guy threw in a rat and she took it , (( I am planning on switching her to frozen )).

Well here is a picture of her before she ate and tell me what you think. This is the only picture I have of her at the moment.

Oooh ya before I forget the reason I am asking is cuz I can CLEARLY see its under weight but the guy I bought it from told my brother that it only looks underweight now cuz its in shed mode and because of its young age.

Once again sorry for posting on this forum but this is just the only forum that's actually helped me. Thanks.

Well luckily I've got it now. Most of my snakes I've bought were heavily underweight. But ill get her up to weight in no time
 
I'm not an expert on snake care by any means and I'm sure in years past I've probably done some dumb things but none of my snakes lost that much weight when they went into shed. Then again mine always seemed to shed in between feedings and I don't know if that was just a lucky fluke or what.

I just recently picked a corn like that. He should be eating small mice but he was still eating fuzzies, once a week. He's not as skinny as this little girl is but I'm sure if it continued that way he could've easily reached that point. I'm not sure if his growth is stunted because of it or not. Time will tell i guess.
 
This is my Male ball python and he looked just like her when I just got her about a year ago!!

My corn snakes are - Noami ; Akeyra and Claire
Ball Python - Xypher
Columbian rainbow boa - Kiara.
Red tail boas - Zeuss and Chleo

Any I ideas you guys have on a name for her ?

Here she is now after I've had her for about 3 weeks.
Looks ten times better and moving her to once a week feeding now.

She really is adorable. Can't wait to put her with my other het ball python and get beautiful little albino balls.
 
Pretty little girl :). I love their "If I can't see you, you're not here" pose. We just got out first ball python Friday.
 
Haha no Nanci we do have them in South Africa. Hahaha wasn't sure if you meant like the morph cinnamon. Haha.

This is my male 100% het albino he is my favorite because of his beautiful saddles on his neck. He is about 8months old now.

In the picture above that snake looks pretty good. The other pictures of the male he looked fat to me...with rolls when he was coiled. I've had snakes look pretty nasty when in shed-wrinkled, skinny looking-and once they do they look good. Most people are used to fat snakes and not used to seeing the muscle that runs along the ridge of their backs. boas and pythons in general have very slow metabolisms and feeding too frequently quickly leads to obesity and in some species prolapse. If you feed weekly I'd feed a smaller item and certainly no larger than the largest portion of the body. Putting weight on that's all fat is no more healthy than being on the lean side and being leaner is actually safer.
 
They can be a pain to get to eat, but if you have one that eats regularly they are as able to get obese as any other domestic snake. They are no different. If they fast for months at a time then yes, the will use what they have saved up.
