Evil fed ex truck!!

So I am waiting for the last corn to arrive.. She should be here any minute..

Either way, I hear the fed ex truck, I dance to the door.. he dropped something at the neighbors house and takes off.. :(

That made me sad..

Im sure there's a second truck on the way but I got so happy and so sad..

I'm also keeping an eye in case it updates in case dumdum dropped the animal at my neighbors..

That's why I always have them held for pick-up. You get the snakes WAY earlier, and there is no chance of any mishaps in delivery.

I hear ya, but I don't drive yet... Working on it (am a little scared after car accident) so I sort of push it off. My delivery guys knows me so I am fairly safe at it and keeping an eye out. trust me if something had changed I would of been on it like white on rice.. but yeah second truck came and she's safe in her baby bin now... She was packed up alright LOL took me forever to break trough the tape but what a snake... Oh My God!

Pictures will be uup soon in the picture gallery... lol It was hard to only take a few and then put her away... OH MY GOD...

The truck that delivers to my house always dumps the snakes on the porch, rings the doorbell, and walks away immediately without waiting for me to come to the door. This has happened with all 20+ snakes I've had delivered, despite my complaints. I recently purchased some snakes from a breeder on this site, and he got a tracking notification saying "left on porch" in upper 30s temperatures, before I had the time to email him to let him know the snakes looked good. Gave him quite the scare!

Oh God... Thank God they are not like that here... It's always the same guy for the companies unless vacation etc (I order a lot online so I have a standing relationship with these people). I also do tip them it helps.. I would get pissed if that was my snakes.. but the three shipments I have had I have also ensured I am home and i hear the truck before they pull over. It is a very specific sound and they are almost always on the dot on the time +- 10 15 minutes or so... I got really good people.. not saying bad stuff can't happen but knock wood! besides I am not getting anymore now.. Im done.. done done done! I understand why you are upset though esp when you have complained about it too.. :( That is awful!

At least I have always picked them up immediately so their safety was never compromised. And after the first time it happened I knew to expect it, so I watch from the window like a hawk.

I completely understand that... I am just sad they are so disrespectful for live beings.. How many do you have in total?

35, most are corns but I have some ball pythons/boas/leopard geckos/other odds and ends as well.

I've only had one scary shipping incident. Back when plasmas were $800 or so, Rich Z put them on sale for half price. I struggled and scraped up enough for a lone female (25% surcharge). So we talked about not shipping Thanksgiving week, and I assumed he would contact me with shipping info at a future date. So I get home from work the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and there is a white and red box out at the end of my driveway!!! Where cars go by at 55-70 MPH! And gravel trucks! It's the freaking most expensive dream snake!!!!! She was fine. I was so freaked out I left my keys in the door all night. Rich's e-mail got snagged by my spam filter. Nice.

Oh holy... Yeah... that would have freaked me out too... I wonder why they don't need to require signature for that kind of a thing? that way they go back to holding as opposed to being dropped off...

The seller has to request from the shipping company to require a signature. There's usually always an extra fee for that. Plus fed ex sucks. Those home drivers are miserable, they're treated really bad by their company, so customer satisfaction isn't a priority. Plus they are ridiculously expensive! I always use the post office, way cheaper than ups an fed ex.

I have had the two snakes I've bought online shipped to my work because I can guarantee someone will be there to sign for them...My b/f is home most of the time but there's always that one chance, and even though my neighborhood isn't "bad", I still don't trust having super important/expensive things sent to my home...just in case

Speaking of having things shipped to the work, I had some feeder mice shipped to my workplace once. While I was teaching a class, I got a text from a coworker saying "DUDE, did you just have a PYTHON SHIPPED TO THE LAB???" Turns out the package was a reused box that said "contains one savu python." Nobody at work knew what the hell that was but they knew it scared them!

lol @ Duxor... and zombie yeah I was thinking of sending to work too.. but not quite trusting my co workers NOT to open it and play with it... and then loose it... they love snakes...

Can't wait until these guys grows a little so I can use them for my reptile rally's where we do reptile education... Even though few animals beat the popularity of my monitor Rex.. Kids love when he walks on the leash and chases zombie mice!

I disagree about FedEx sucking. My weekend FedEx driver lets my big pit bull type dogs run up to her truck and try to get in, and gives them treats. If I'm not home, she always leaves bones on top of the package. The weekday FedEx guy put a bicycle I ordered in my shed so it wouldn't be sitting out! And shipping snakes- the ladies at the hub keep the babies in the office till the last moment, before sending them off, and when a new snake gets held there, they call at 9AM and say "Nanci, your baby is here!" Even though they are not snake people, they always enjoy watching me open the box right in the office, to make sure everyone arrived safely. And FedEx customer service is always helpful when I need to make certain that a location I am not familiar with really does accept live animals. I think they're great. I don't think $65 is too much to insure my babies have special care and arrive safely 12 hours after I see them off...
