I remembered you said you duck hunt.Did you hear about the big blubill die off they had in Minn. They found thousands washing up on shore on lake Winnibigosish. One type of snail they feed on has shown up carrying flukes in their digestive system. The ducks eat them and die. We're down to a 1 a day limit here and it looks like the season is going to be closed on them for us next year.

Aw, crap. That's really depressing....when you can't control the host of this little bugger, this is going to be a long term thing.

jazz

That sucks, hopefully they can get it under control soon. I had a great first weekend - 5 bird limit (2 blue wing teal, 1 shoveler, 1 lesser scaup, and 1 fulvious whistling duck.) Cajun, the vizsla, did great.

Good to hear Mike, congrats! I know you mentioned once that you were having difficulty getting Cajun to take to water. How'd the pup swim?

I don't hunt. BUT...anyone with CDC and flank feathers, and no place to put them is welcome to send them my way. I LOVE tying flies using duck flank and Cul de Canard feathers...;)

I got him swimming good now. He floundered the first few months in the water, but he got the hang of it.He picked up a teal at 55 yards and a whistler at 40 on Sunday. He was a wore out pup all day Sunday and Monday. Hes been swimming good for 6 months or so. It is so much easier having him get the birds, than having me wade out there every time.

No problem, wait until the end of November into December and I start diver and sea duck hunting.I'll send you some feathers.I get mostly oldsquaw, scoter, goldeneye, bluebill, bufflehead, and common and hooded mergansers. The old squaws have nice silver-gray flanks and the hoodies have a barred gold flank.
