Water bowl.

I have not yet got a proper water bowl for my snake only a glass container i found in my kitchen, thing is i havn't seen my snake drink yet and i was wondering if it may be due to the fact that the bowl is too deep and the sides are too high. I have only put a very small amount of water in the bottom so that the snake cannot drown but this means he/she has to reach in to drink like this:

(Ha ha)

Is this ok?

Sorry for asking so much questions.

Nice picture :)

Its not uncommon for people not to ever see their snakes drinking, but trust me if you corn is thirsty, it will find the water and drink!
Having a bowl with such high sides isnt really ideal though, so as soon as you get chance to pick up one do, you can pick up small plastic ones for as little as 50p in some petshops, or if you have a few more pounds, the exo terra range do some really nice ones.

Also if it really bugs you about your snakes visible drinking habits or lack there of...
Whenever you put your snake back in the tank introduce them to the water dish. I do that with Nagini all the time and she often drinks for me.

I've got chompy in a temporary setup for the moment, until the stuff ive ordered arrives tomorrow.

The waterbowl im using for him is an old chinese-takeaway soup bowl.. plastic, about 2inchs deep with a bit of a rim around it... i was a bit worried about him struggling to reach it when i first got him, So i put a bit of extra substrate in the cool end (Where the bowl is) then dug out a small 'hole' a few CM deep and partly buried the bowl. Brought the lip down to about 1.5CM higher than the substrate.

Seems to of worked fine, i dont see him drink often though. Remember, if your corn is only small and young and you havent had them in the tank for a while they probably do most of their venturing while your asleep. :) I would guess He/She will also be getting moisture from their meal too.

If your really concerned, Just keep an eye on the snake and look out for any wrinkled skin.

This is a picture of a 7 gram hatchling in a kind of big water bowl. I'm not worried about her drowning in it- they swim just fine, and some snakes like to bathe. I think a heavy bowl is very important so the snake can't tip it over and go without water until you discover it.

I use those little hamster food bowls for the small snakes' water dishes. Personally I found they get substrate in there if I try anything too shallow. As they get bigger I change to bigger bowls, and charity shops are a good source of bowls for pennies!

I've found the same thing, and usually use the same thing. I can not stand when the little buggers get aspen in their water. For hatchlings, it's either hamster bowls or solo cups cut down a bit.

In that pic above of the hatchling in the big water bowl, what kind exactly is that cornsnake? My new baby looks just like it but I have yet to post a pic to ask what kind exactly she is. I'm so curious to know..

You are correct. Look for the thread Jasmine: My New Hateling for more pics! The giveaway is her gray head. Since I took the photos and put her in her viv the day before yesterday, I saw her for five seconds last night. That's it. Jasper, OTOH, is out constantly after dark. Cherry is just out constantly.
