Help!!! I don't know how to car for my baby snake!

Hunter2011

The fun begins!
lol... Anyways, I am planning on getting a new corn snake from Kathy Love, I picked her out already but i need to send her some money, so I need to know the basics of corns snakes and everything helpful to me, like heating, water, food (Frozen or live) and hides, vines, decor, and anything else that you can think of!!! thanks a lot to you all :spinner:

I recommend you also order Kathy loves book on corn snake care
Excellent recommendation. Until then, 99.9999% of all possible questions you could possibly come up with have already been asked and answered here. Read the FAQ threads stickied in the Husbandry sub-forum, and familiarize yourself with the 'search' feature.

But get the book well before the snake arrives. The better prepared you are in advance of the arrival, the less stressful it'll be for both the snake AND you!

Read the FAQs that are quite extensive. Do some searches on keywords like "UTH" (Under Tank Heater), "Set up" and "Munson Plan." You'll learn a lot and be ready to go when the time comes.

Good on you for asking here first, rather than joining up in desperation after your snake is about to die from poor husbandry.

Good luck!

Well she will only hold my snake til saturday, so...it will probably get here befor that, but I have been researching for the past week so i think i should be ok...and then ill have the book wehn it comes, but i talked to her and she told me everything i need to know to start my snake out when she gets here so i should be ok...wish me luck !!!!

Oh yeah lol sorry but i didn't order the book yet lol but i am wehn i tell for sure about the snake!!
sry ='( don't hate me lol :)

I'm getting confused. You've started two threads and in each one you're getting a different snake, did you pick out the normal or the crimson?

She decided on the normal because the crimson is a little nippy, although beautiful. Since it is her first snake, I advised her to take the calmer one. She can always get a feisty baby for her 2nd snake!

Since this seems to be a duplicate of your other topic my words stand the same as before:

Also err...maybe you should have done more research before ordering the snake? :shrugs:

I was thinking the same thing when I read the first post. I can't imagine getting a snake before you even know how to take care of it. Heck, I had to find out what was required before I could even make the DECISION to own a snake cause for all I knew, it might have been too complicated and/or expensive for my taste.

I REALLY think people should do their research BEFORE buying ANY pet. That's why so many pets end up being up for adoption, sick, or dead, because people don't realize the care and responsibility they require.

I'd be panicking too if a snake was arriving and I was totally unprepared for it. Yikes!

Im sorry lol, I have been researching for a week now, im jsut nervous that i will do something wrong =( Something that could be a stupid mistake that could be prevented since this is my first snake, I am reading care sheets and guides, all of KAthy Loves too!
Becaue I am spending near 100$ on this snake I just don't want anything to go wrong, and people use abbreviations like UTH and VIV and I just didn't know what they were talking about lol, but I talked to Kathy earlier today, and she told me everything I need to know to care for my new baby corn snake, but I am ordering her book on corns so that while it is adjusting for the first 3 weeks or so, I can be reading and still researching about everything that I can possibly research, sorry for the missunderstanding, the LAST thing I want to do is end up with a dead/sick snake, and definitely won't be putting it up for adoption! So please don't be hateful?
=)

So please don't be hateful?

Ah it's not hateful Hun, just a bit exasperated.

If you stick around (and I hope you do cos you're very welcome), you won't believe the number of posts that start "I've just bought a snake and I don't know how to care for it". I think the title of your post might have got people thinking you were one of those unfortunates!

Taking any advice offered by Kathy is the very best start you can give your babe, so keep up the good work. :)

We've all made mistakes in the beginning. I've lost a few babies beacuse I didn't make sure lids were on tight, some I never found. I've learned my lesson. Don't worry so much! We're here for you. And that little classic girl with hets is super cute!!
