Cody

Don't trend on me...
My new corn, who I get about 5 days ago won't eat. He's quite skinny and aggressive so I thought he'd eat the pinkie I gave him quickily, I did everything correctily but he won't eat, he's not interested at all with the pinkie, and advise on getting to eat that I could try, I'm planning on trying feeding gim again tomorrow.

Two polls in one day has to be a record:shrugs:. Might I suggest the search function for answer or the faq section under "Health and Feeding Issues" this is a sub forum about feeders not feeding.

Have you really done everything right? Have you done any research or do you just want us to answer all your questions? Yes, this is a forum and we are here to be helped and to give help, but some stuff we (you) can do on your own. 1st- Use the search function. 2nd- If that doesn't help (which is impossible because this question has been asked hundreds of times) then use google or another search engine to find your answer. After you get your answer comes step three. Buy a book on corns to refer to! Ohh and 4th- Do not make useless posts OR polls.

Not all snakes are going to eat everytime. If you got it from a breeder then they would tell you if it had a problem. If you got it from a pet store then you probably won't know if it does or doesn't. Do what I have suggested above and you should be fine.

Yeah Cody, when you post a thread of this nature, make sure you give all of the necessary information so we can help you. Saying 'I did everything correctly' doesn't help us to help you. Just use the search function, and if you can't find what you need, make a thread.

Just tell us how you went about feeding him and if there's a problem then we can help. However, as Dave said not all snakes will eat every time, and just because they don't doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem.

All the best mate

David

I find it odd that she wouldn't eat, She's so skinny I think I can See the outline of her big long vertibrae on her belly... and the snake hasn't eaten in a least a week before I got her. Anyway, I put the pinkie in a hot glass of water, waited until it's body was unfozen and soft, Grabbed my snake, put in my feeding tank and, dropped the pikie on a paper towel into the tank, and she didn't seem interested at all... and so I jiggled it, she still wouldn't eat it so I put her back. It might be that she's so streesed, I got her the day she arrived at petco, I told the petco guy I wanted to get her, he said she was to aggresive for me, So he was poking it with a pen to show me it would strike, and she was striking at the pen, I told him I wanted to hold him, so he grabbed a cloth, got it into a corner and shoved her up against the glass and grabbed her with the cloth, showed me her, and she was stricking at him.... [I wonder why?] He told me I shouldn't get her because between 4-5 of them out of 10 die the first day of stress, I got her anyway... and she's still streesed and aggresive, although she doesen't bite me now. Could it be case she's so streesed out?

I didn't understand some of what you said, buy I looked at the Rules and FAQ's.

Cody, you've confused susan with changing your story.

You said you've only had him 5 days in this topic.

In your humidity topic you said you had the weeds in your tank for a month and he loves crawling in them.

This is conflicting info and we're genuinely confused as to whether or not you're giving us real info or just making things up.

For some reason, Parts of this post make me want to call Troll. Vertebrae on her belly, you say?. Not on her spine then..?.

But out of good nature and faith im going to say... Stressed and aggressive = LEAVE THE SNAKE ALONE FOR A WHILE.

From your own story, Its been stressed out by being poked by someone with a pen. You've then "grabbed" a towel (In Petco? I guess your local petco is different to mine and has a bed bath and beyond section.) and trapped it in a corner. Then "she" was bundled into a box, put in a car (Which results in alot of vibrations causing more stress for the snake.) Then she's bundled into a completely foreign enviroment for her. Then she's plucked out of this foreign enviroment, shoved into a small tank and has a pinkie waved in her face.

Leave her alone for a week. Let her settle in. This isn't going to cause a problem for her, She isn't going to starve to death in a week (Unless shes INCREDIBLY skinny and hasn't fed in quite a while.)

If the snake feels threatened or scared, She will not eat. No matter how much you wave the pinkie in its face.

Let her settle in to her new enviroment, Place the tank in a room that doesn't have constant noise (TV etc) or people constantly plodding through it. Let her settle down and feel more confident and THEN try feeding her.

(ALSO, If i was informed by the place i was purchasing a snake from that half of their stock die in the first day i would NOT buy from that shop.)

I may be completely out of line with this post and if i am, any member can feel free to tell me that... Just posting my opinion!. :shrugs:

THat must be a VERY bad Petco! I KNOW at my store we have very few die, only one that I know of actually. And we do not poke with pens or grab with towels. I would report that person Cody, either to the store Manager or a higher up, there is a number you can try on the receipt, because they are an idiot. The snake does sound incredicibly stressed though. (Like you said, no wonder). My snake was never like that, I don't think I've ever seen him act stressed or strike, either while with me at home or at the store. Never aggressive at all. It's why I picked him, actually. I hope that means he's comfy here, but I think he just naturally docile and laid back. Good luck with your baby!

Cody = Troll ?????

Cody = 13 yr old.....

13 yr old = Trollish behavior

Trollish behavior = intentional or just 13 yr old approach?????????

Not trying to pick on you Cody, but I think some people are coming to the conclusion that you may be saying and doing some things just to get a reaction. Some of what you say is just normal learning stuff that everyone needs to go through finding out, but some of the ways you are asking, researching, questioning seems to be to get a reaction from people. FOR EXAMPLE, what in the world is the point of poll being attached to this thread??? there has already been a large discussion on the subject of eggs which you were involved in, and not that you can never bring that up again, but is this a thread about your snake that won't eat (5 days after you got it?????, check back with me with the one baby corn I had that went 4 months with only one meal) or is this a discussion about why should be fed to corns? To me it seems like a thinly veild attempt to play the game with the poll.

Good luck with your snake, there is no need to panic at this point and if you don't like the petco, don't shop there.
