Hey all, I got this corn last Sunday. Since I have fed him once and he enjoyed that, but he is a real anti-social. When I try to get near him (not to touch) to see his reaction he backs away really fast and goes back to his hide..

Is this due to his nature of being a bit tempermental or unfriendly, or because he is only 2 weeks old?

He has been fed 3 times within the two weeks. For most of the day he is in his hide and comes out when its dark for a little, until I turn on some dim light to look at him then he will make his way slowly back into his hide.

I have not touched it yet.

He has water, a nice environment and heaps of places to hide / climb.



What's up with Mr. Fork?? :(

Does'nt sound like anything is wrong with him. He is still very young and sees you as a threat. Give him time and he will learn that your not going to eat him.
 
To your hatchling, you're a huge potential predator. Most become habituated to handling, having the capacity to realise that you won't harm them and even associate you with good things (IE feeding). Do a search on hateling to see some fiesty, bitey babies! (and 'hateling' isn't a typo, it's the perfect term, coined by Nanci)
 
Mine was acting exactly the same way. He is getting better now, after having him for a week and after two feedings and two handlings. He doesn't seem to be AS shy but he does still slowly back away at times, back into his hide when I look in the tank at him. It's normal behavior, like the others said, they view us as a gigantic predator who wants to eat them. It will take some time for them to learn to trust us.
 
give him time, babies are flighty. Could be a few months, or a year, but you'll see him getting better.

Also, I mostly wanted to say Forky is an AWESOME name. Haha.
 
Lol, well the thing that made stick to Fork is being able to tell people, "Hey fork my snake is doing quite well... yeah..."


Fork sounds a bit like _ _ _ _ and snake is another word for _ _ _ _ _.
