As of jan 1st FedEx prices went up. It now cost abot 20% more to ship has anyone else seen this incress. a 7x9x11 inch box used to be about 36 to 40 to ship now it is 45 to 55 to ship.
 
Maybe because it's winter, or maybe because of gas prices? I don't really get any animals shipped to me but when I was told it's $60 I was like.. daaaaaaammmn.
 
I noticed this too Vinman. I did a quote the end of last year on an animal, it was $45. I did a quote on the same animal, same shipping box, etc. and it went up to $65. They charged a gas fee of $20. Not sure if that was included last year or not though.
 
They always charge a fuel surcharge . But yea 20 dollars more for a package and the gas prices are down since the almost 4 dollars a gal. last year and RATES ARE HIGHER it is corporate greed!!! They know that they are the only carrier that ships herps . They got us by the stones:eek:
 
This is disappointing, as a buyer of snakies who prefers the internet. Our local breeder is Kathy Love - who is awesome and nice and has supremely FANTASTIC snakes but, alas, doesn't always have the types I'd want - and the rest are all pet stores who keep their yearlings and two year olds in ten gallon tanks or newborns in a twenty long except for on in Ft. Myers that I can never find (these are the shops I KNOW OF, mind).

This means sticking to cons, now. ): Which is sad. This is Florida, so we have plenty, but it is few and far between that I can make them as they are usually further away from me and I work most weekends.
 
Are you guys getting a discount? I know at one point I had a 15% discount and then that expired and I am only getting the 10%. I know they said their prices were going up but I am surprised it is that much of a difference. Perhaps you could call your rep to see if they would be willing to negotiate a better discount. You never know unless you ask!
 
I think the new price rates are ridiculous. I recently sent a package out that that cost $64, the before cost was $45. For small time breeders this hurts us. I count my self lucky if I break even in my hobby. But with shipping prices getting so high how long can I sell snakes for and still break even. People don't wont to pay $25 for a normal corn snake and pay $60 to ship it. And if I lower the price of the snakes I can't even come close to breaking even. Its a no win situation IMO.

I had the 20% discount since last summer. I want a bigger discount I was hopeing my volume would bring me to the next ter level.
You got to talk volume I told hime I raise Snakes, bearded dragons, and tropical fish. that I would like to ship all my stuff fedex instead of just the snakes and the fish and lizards through the post office
