heating question

I'm still in the planning stages and deciding on what type of cage to use for a corn snake.

For those of you who use plastic (sterilite) tubs, what type of heat source do you have?

When using tubs you can either go with a heat pad or with heating cables..just do a search on both and you'll find plenty of info on both..I definitely support the UTH (under tank heater) since snakes love belly heat..

I use a heat mat under the plastic bin, and attached a lamp dimmer (AKA a rehostat) to it so I can control how hot it gets. A rehostat is just a manual version of a thermostat, a common lamp dimmer you can get at wal*mart. But no one really calls it a rehostat except us I think, so ask for the lamp dimmers if you can't find what you're looking for.

but you normaly have to make one if you buy it from wal-mart, I did, it only cost me 10$ and 18 cents! :) or you can get one at almost any pet store for 23-25$, but my brother bought one from the store, and mine ended up working better, i made mine myself, it isn't hard at all, just follow the instructions on thise thread http://cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?p=574234#post574234
I made the second one on the second from last page :) good luck

What? No, you can get rehostats ready to go off the shelf. Maybe you're thinking of a thermostat. Rehostats are just lamp dimmers, you manually turn it up and down, and you can get them at any hardware store, walmart, or wherever.

here, I found a pic:

It's a table top lamp dimmer, you just plug it in an outlet, plug the heating pad into the lamp dimmer, and have fun sliding the knob. Simple, and around $7 canadian.

OMG!!! How come none of the stores (wal-mart, major stores like those, the hardwear stores, and lowes) didn't have those??? :( I had to make my own or pay 25$
