Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

Well, I've had to activate the personal attack function on our burglar system...

Mr.AJ

Educated Horse.
...and im off to the police station first thing tomorrow morning.

Came home earlier on today to pick up some more tools for work, While i was opening the door some bloke pulls up in a range rover sport (Black, tinted windows, fully VIPd typical crim' look.) and starts asking me questions about the house next door (How long has it been for sale? etc) then he says "Do you want a job?" So i pointed out i have a job, and pointed to my works car. He then says "Gowan mate bit of extra cash, all i need is an address to send my mail too"

Alarm bells start ringing in my head, obviously thats some dodgy fruitcake right there. I Profously declined and went about my business.

About an hour after i left there was a knock on the door and my girlfriend answers it to another guy, similiar description (But slightly different clothes) to the one i spoke to. Who then asked for his sister cheryl and said she lived here, My girlfriend told him she didn't and went to close the door. At this point he started shouting that she does live there, because he'd been here visiting her earlier in the day (Obviously bull.) he then starts trying to force the door open - No matter how much she swore at him and tryed to shut the door he kept on trying to force it open, In the end she had to set the dog on him to get him out of the house (Not many guys choose to argue with an angry german shepherd!)

She didn't ring me to let me know while i was at work and now the local police station is closed (y'know because criminals only work 9am-4pm. :uhoh:) so im going to pop in there tomorrow and report it.

Seems quite likely to me that the two events are linked (I.E he saw me leave, knew from our friendly banter at the beginning she was alone and decided to try his luck)

Also, activated the personal attack feature of our burglar alarm for her so if anything happens again all she has to do is hit 2 buttons and the alarm goes off.

Hope he comes back to try it again when im here though, My personal attack alarm is a combination of the drop forged steel adjustable wrench i keep by the front door meeting his defective cranium.

That's scary! Do you have peep holes in your doors so she can see who it is before she opens it again? (They're really easy to install if you don't). I'd be nervous about leaving my house alone...Good thing you had a dog. So your police station closes, huh? Nice. They just have free rein during the off hours?

Yep, local pig hut is only open 9am-4pm mon-fri. Evenings, early morning and weekend if you wish to contact a police officer you have to dial 999 (Emergency number, think 911) and a squad car is sent out from the metropolitan police.

PABs are pretty useful things...

Not sure how your alarm is set up, but they can be set up so the police are automatically notified when you have an activation. :)

Hope your fruitcake leaves you alone....

I know, I install redcare systems! ;) You need an extra dedicated phoneline for it though, Or GSM. Not really worth the expense in this house! Will be setting up redcare when i buy my first house though.

As I was reading this, I was thinking "Not many argue with either of my .45's, either. I've got short arms - I'd rather throw something small and fast at him before he gets into wrench distance.

Good luck. I can't believe the cops over there won't take reports outside of that time. More evidence that cops ANYWHERE can't be proactive....just reactive. :(

That's freaky. If it was me, I would've gotten the cops out there ASAP.

We've had a number of attempted sexual assaults on campus recently. Thankfully, at any sign of resistance, the guy has taken off (they think it's the same guy at least). I would run at night, but I've had to stop since I probably wouldn't hear someone sneak up on me. My dad wants me to get a dog, and I'm kinda thinking about moving soon so I can. :shrugs: He's even been researching where to get trained animals.

Lol, I work for an intruder alarm company. Was just wondering if you knew about the redcare - you'd be amazed how many people ring us up having NO idea how to do the simplest things on their alarms. :crazy02:

Well... popped into the cop shop earlier on - Came out with a few forms to fill in and return to them, and someone "may" be dropping by to have a word with my girlfriend.

Not that worried about her safety with just one guy, She can handle herself (Probably better than i can!) she was the bar manager at a popular bar in the center of manchester for 4 years, I've seen her overpower and manhandle boxers out of the bar before (And they we're sober - just pricks!, before you start!.)

Ohh, which one? Hope its not Chubb! *Insert friendly business rivalry here*

Nothing protects people like paperwork!
