Now I want pringles.
And while I'm very late to the game I just want to say I came in here expecting the toy hula hoop as well.
 
My mom is from Germany. She said the restaurants and general food are much better that side of the pond, but as far as snack foods go, the US has the best. So there! :p

They look like Fritos Hoops to me, which are only available in Canada as far as I know.

I disagree. Pringles are processed potato flakes extruded into the shape of a chip in a can. :eek:

Potato chips are slices of real potato. :)

Don't get me wrong, both are tasty and have their place . . . I'm just saying there's a difference between what's a "chip" and what isn't. :) In fact, I think in the history of Pringles they had to officially remove the word chip from their labeling.

I love Canadian snack food. I've driven three hours to cross the boarder just for a bag of Ketchup doritoes:bowdown:
 
Pork scratchings! I only get them occasionally, but then am forced to share them with Ellie. I try not to think about what they're made of, I think it's deep fried porkrind, heavily salted

They have the same thing in the states but call them pork rinds. They come in the original salted and a spicy chili powder, my favorite.
 
Mmmm pork rinds... you should try shrimp/prawn chips... you get them from asian markets and they look like plastic but puff up like pork rinds. And they don't really taste like shrimp but they are yummy.

Wow, I always assumed those were available in the US as well, they were such a staple for me growing up D: Actually I prefer Old Dutch brand ketchup over Lays for some reason.

Yep, we call 'en prawn crackers, you can get them with chinese take-away, but I like getting the little discs to cook at home. (If you dip them in your hot and sour crabmeat soup, they dissolve and look like spit though)
 
I don't care much for the ketchup potatoe chips but the doritoes are great. They have a nice tangy flavor Mmm.
Never heard of prawn crackers, must be a East Coast thing. Sounds interesting though, might have to stop by an asian market and see if I can find some.

Anyone ever eat those nasty dried, salted prunes they sell at the asian markets? I think they have alum or something on them, very gross.
 
the prawn crackers are delicious. i get them every time i get a chinese. We get a huge bag for free if your order is over a certain amount.
 
My vote would go for those spirally fresh fried potato chips you get at fairs sometimes.. Don't remember what they are called, but they are incredible...
 
The grocery stores up north have fresh beef and turkey jerkey in huge slabs. It's _so_ good. Perfect hiking/horseback riding lunch. Just don't run out of drinks.

Jack links is also really good. You said you got your jerky from a Mormon... no wonder it tasted like leather. They have a lot of things they aren't allowed to eat in their religion so it was probably specially made to meet their religious needs (possibly certain seasonings couldn't be added) that or it was just plain bad jerky.

There's alot of weird stuff about mormons, but there are no jerky spices that are disallowed...
