Albino hoggie ... tooooo cute

Snakes in designer genes
Well, I've been after a nice bright albino hognose forever, but figured it would be a while before we got one, but then we were given this guy as a present over the weekend. Well, look at his little face - we couldn't refuse him!

He's called Clive, and he's teeny tiny :) It's so easy to forget how small and sweet baby hoggies are... once he's out of quarantine I think I'll do some photos of him with my big female Adele to record the size difference for posterity!

That's gotta be the cutest snake face I've ever seen. I'd have to call him Ducky. I'm not much of a snake cuddler, but I'd have to make an exception for that guy. :grin01:

Ducky? I can see your point but he's definitely a Clive ... and yes, he's very cuddly.

NICE present!!! Wow. He's beautiful.

Thanks Nanci - and yeah, I was bowled over by being given him, a lovely gift from a great person. I love albino hoggies, but they are so variable .. I am not a fan of the really blonde ones, but this guy is just exactly what I like.

Never seen a snake like that, but I like it ;)

You should seek one out - hoggies have such super temperaments ... they're all bluff and hissing, but as a rule they don't bite and are just fun to own.

there is a hognose snake that you can find n the wild in Ohio, they internet said that people kill them becasue they sound like a rattle snake and will flatten their heads out and act fierce, but are practically harmless? so I want one ;)

Toyah he is soooo adorably cute, that little face just says "take me home". I haven't really looked into hoggies, but I think I will have to after seeing him :)

Thanks for sharing!

That's the Eastern Hognose. If you find one, I'd not recommend bringing it home. They are filled with parasites from their amphibian diet, and are very, very difficult to get switched to eating mice. Fine, you say, I'll feed it frogs and toads, but that food supply runs out in the winter. Buy a nice store-bought Western or Tri-color instead. But if you _do_ find an Eastern in the wild, take lots of pictures and have fun observing all the tricks it has for making you think it's either very dangerous or dead! They will strike, but they never open their mouths, so it's like getting pecked by a chicken with very poor aim.

WOW! What a cutie!!
I adore hoggies but never really looked into them.
Congrats on this little guy :)

Oooh, hes lovely :). Are you going to get albino/het albino girlfriends for him? How little is he...is there a possibility of snake in hand shots :p?

Yeah I wouldn't really want to take a snake out of the wild to keep as a pet anywyas, but they are cute ;)

I'll take some snake-on-hand shots later on (I'm working in the snake room tonight, so can't get him out until I'm finished) - but he is teeny tiny.

No plans on het albino or albino girlies for him yet, but that's really stan's domain more than mine anyway :) I just asked him and he said "mebbies", so we'll see what happens....

Eeeee! He's absolutly adorable, and I love them the albino morph. Dean just may be losing it admitting he'd cuddle that snake (although I think we all would) but I agree Ducky is a good name Clive makes him try to sound all grown up when he's just a wee little man
