does anyone know what kind of snake this is? (poss. fox snake?)my little brother found it on the road at his friends house.

my little brother says it might have gotten run over but it doesnt look like it to me. its head/neck is very limp and i can see some blood smears on him near his mouth. this is my first rescue so ANY, ANY, advice is very welcome.

(i dont have annother heat pad, what could i use for a heat source for now?)
 
That is a Western Fox Snake. Those are some very nice snakes to keep. I have a female that took to eating F/T right off the bat.

Ok, nothing to worry about this snake to much on the heat. Since its a fox, it will be fine in "room" Temps.

Just keep an eye on it and let it rest. I wouldn't hold it for a few days. Just keep an eye on it. It may have been attacked by another animal or stomped on. Its always possible.

As I stated in my first post, mine took to frozen thawed mice right off the bat so this critter should do the same. Most wc take to mice readily so do not worry to much there.

Just try to keep this snake comfortable as best as you can, give it a hide, but if its kinda laying there, try a piece of newspaper. If you are worried about this animal and would like it as a pet, take it to vet. They should give you some answers about its condition.

That's too bad. At least he had a comfortable death and didn't get run over repeatedly.

Well I just wanted to let you know that if you ever come across a fox again they do make good pets. They remind me very much of Corn snakes. I really dig them.
 
yeah, i was really hoping that it would live. i really loved the look of him. My little brother actually thought it was a corn at first, lol.
