Update on scout the black rat snake

I was not defending it I made a mistake. My mom follows my herp thing closley and makes me do a 20 slide power pint on every snake I get

But does she check the validity of all your statements? Does she follow up with making sure you are giving them the proper care? (I am not in any way 'flaming' your mom, I'm simply asking) I think it is great that she makes you do these presentations for her (gives me ideas for when I have kids), but I think she should stay a bit more involved after the original informational session (and that is just my opinion and how I think I would handle it when I become a parent someday).

Or, maybe you could be proactive and invite her to be more involved? I'm sure she would enjoy it if you made it almost a 'family' thing, where she and your grandfather (I seem to remember you mentioning him being slightly involved in your herping) could help out with some of the minor care and be kept 'in the loop' on the happenings in your snake world (if you do this already, I apologize). Heck, that could greatly benefit you in the end, she might be able to help you in the future when you want to start your business (if that truly is the route you want to go in your life). Teach her more, share the knowledge that you are gaining with her. I know when I first got my snakes, my mom wanted to become involved (and I was 18). She used to help me with feedings and would happily take care of them when I was away (she still does when I go to Florida to visit my sister).

Just ideas for you, and I'm glad you understand the mistake you made. :)

Yes, She does check the validity. She will feed and I have taught her to. My grandpa can fully care for them. He actually caught a garter and took care of it for 6 months jus for the heck of it.

And that all sounds fantastic. Now, teach her as much as you can so you can bounce ideas off of her (as well as those of us around here of course) if you aren't sure of something. If you learn something new, share it with her. Involve her as much as you can in your snake's care, if there are problems, tell her. I'll tell you what goes on in our family to give you a better idea of what I mean. We have horses. Seven, soon to be 8, of them. My dad does most of the care, as he is semi-retired and works very near the farm, so he does most of the chores. If there is a problem, he will call my sister or myself to get clarification that his resolution is a good one. Same goes for me. If I have an issue, I call my sister (as she is more knowledgeable in some aspects of the horse world, and I in other aspects). She calls me if she isn't sure about something. My mom is constantly asking questions as well. There is constant communication about the care of the horses, and it keeps everyone happy and healthy. Maybe you could do this to some extent with your family and the snakes. (again, just ideas for you to think about)

That would wotk but my brother, dad, step mom, and step brother hate them. My half brother brasen is a cool little guy he can ID every snake I have he is 4

You live with you mom though most of the time, right? So involve her the most (as it already sounds like she is), and help Brasen to become a good herper as he grows up.

brasen is old english..he is sicck today. I see him during the week. I have babysat him and he has gone herpin with me. He caught his first snake a rough green last year
