Susan,
Can't you develop a CS.com restraining order to prevent this from happening in the future. I think that HoosierHerper and some other members of this forum have been tormented enough by this kid! Don't you? It's seems that no matter how many warnings you give, he will not listen and continues his behavior. Either that Or I think we should start a petition to have him removed.
Just a thought,
Wayne
I realize that this was directed at Susan, but I wanted to make a few points:
1. There really is no way to develop or enforce any kind of "restraining order". It's an open discussion forum, so members who aren't under ban or suspension can't be barred from participating in open discussion threads. No amount of "history" between members changes this.
2. We can't just discipline members because they're unpopular or because they present unpopular opinions. Warnings, suspensions, and bans are given for violations of site rules. The profanity (implied and explicit) and inflammatory posting in this thread haven't been limited to a single member. A number of members have broken site rules in this thread. The same thing can be said for discussions that have taken place in other threads in which snakemaster24 has been a participant. I'm not stupid. Where there's smoke, there's fire, and this kid is a firestarter. However, if he has not been suspended or banned yet, it's for a reason. Maybe he hasn't racked up the requisite points for an auto-ban. Maybe his behavior hasn't presented a stark enough contrast from that of his "opponents" to convince the mods that he alone deserves harsh disciplinary action. Maybe the mess of disciplining everyone who deserves it is more work than any of the mods feel like performing (I know that I don't feel like it).
3. If a member breaks site rules, report it. But remember that many of the reports we get boil down to "inflammatory posting". Before you report someone else for it, be darned sure that there are no examples of you doing it in the thread.
4. Polls or petitions of a positive nature regarding individual members are strongly discouraged in the open (non-private) forums; polls or petitions of a negative nature regarding individual members are not tolerated.
(Wayne: I replied to YOUR post, but my comments were not directed specifically at you.)
