Wet Box - How to keep it moist ?

Even though here in the tropics we have between 60-70 % humidity most of the time, I started using a wet box. It contains moist kitchen paper. The snake went in straight away and buried itself. However, now the paper has dried out. What is the best way to re-moisterize the box ? Just spray water in ( I am afraid the snake might catch a cold...) or take the snake out and spray water then ?

Just mist with the snake in there.
There are plenty of other substrates that hold humidity a lot better, like peat moss or sphagnum moss, that are perfect for humid hides because it takes them a lot more time to dry out.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know, but couldn't find any moss yet.

Until you do find the moss, misting them if they're in there will be just fine. I mist almost all of my snakes if I notice they're in shed. It doesn't bother them in the least.

Great ! That is exactly what I wanted to know. Thks and best regards from Thailand:wavey:

Glad I could help!
I'll be making it out that way one of these days... As soon as I get some money. LOL

You should ! If you do, let me know. Besides the political hussel and all the corruption here it is true paradies. Great food, great beaches and beautiful djungels and lots and lots of snakes ...lol. I just got into contact with a German guy who is an expert for Thai snakes. He will help me to find the right local snakes to keep. I think for corn snakes it might be little bit too warm here during the hot season......

That would be so much fun! I would love to go herping out there. Maybe I do need to take up research biology so I can get a government grant to go over there and study.
