Pine shavings contain phenols which can cause health issues, this is common knowledge.
Kiln-dried pine has most of the phenols baked out during the kiln-drying process. Even the real Nazis on the rat forum I used to belong to agreed that kiln-dried pine was safe for rats and other small animals. I assume that means it would be safe for snakes as well?
I ask because I can get 12cf of kiln-dried pine at my workplace cheaper than 4cf of aspen.
