I think what we need to know is where the oranges used in these two test breedings come from. If buf is a dominant gene and orange is an amelbuf then butter het motley x orange could result in all oranges if the orange used here carries two copies of the buf gene meaning all the resulting offspring from this animal carry one copy of the gene and look the same.

If you could state the parentage of the two oranges used here then that would help greatly.

The first breeding Butter het motlet x orange F2 That orange came from
Orange x buf het amel and could have that double gene.( 2006 8 eggs 8outcoms 1 normal-2 buf-1 amel and 4 oranges )But when i suspected that they came all over me.
The second breed Golddustmotley x orange F2 came from orange x orange.
( 2006 8 eggs 7 outcomes 7 oranges ) but this female is bred in 2008 also and gives normals and amel then an could have only a single gene.

How could you get an ultra orange? Unless the orange was an ultramel, which means you can't have an amel het ultra..

Your results are looking like what I got from my creamsicko project.. *shrugs*

I am hoping you have found a new gene, and I am hoping that some one else has gotten some of these animals to test.. I would more than love to get 2.2 of these animals for my own personal intrest.

There is a diffent look at the name ultraorange,i try to explane how iám thinking.
Ultramel is a ultra-amel correct, ultraorange is a ultra-orange becouse the amel is an orange now.

The orange might have a different appearance from an amel.. But if your able to produce ultramel orange, you have proved out that orange is just amel.. The only way your going to able to make an ultraorange in the F1, is if the orange/amel is actually an ultramel to begin with, and there are not indicators suggesting that the orange/amel animals you have posted are ultramel based in the breedings with the butter and goldust..

As suggested, breed it to something that is not known to carry any hets at all..

I think what he means is he is calling an ultramel buf an ultraornage. His reasoning being that an orange already is amel and therefore all your doing is adding the ultra gene to the amel that is ""already there.""

Genetically this doesn't make sense slangenbroed, so its very confusing. Stick with the genotypes entirely at least for now.
 
Let me see if I understand what an ultraorange - as Slangenbroed intends it - is:

Heterozygous Amel, Heterozygous Ultra on the Amel locus
At least heterozygous Buf on the Buf locus (assuming this is a separate locus).

Is that correct, Slangenbroed?

I am very curious about these Buf animals. Is there any way a male Buf (so that he could be tested against my adult females sooner) could be gotten to one of the Hamm/Houten shows for a friend of mine to pick up at the show?

I do have homozygous caramel animals to test against, although none with *no* hets.
 
I don,t understand the hole debate for the name Ultraorange, its nothing more than a ultramelbuf animal.Because buf makes amel orange than it is simple to me.But here are the promised pics from the hole clutch its not the best but.In this clutch amel- ultramel-orange and ultramelbuf ( ultraorange )

Jan, is there any way - for someone like me who hasn't been following this as closely as I might have - for you to pick one of each phenotype (Amel, Buf-Amel AKA Orange, Ultramel and Buf-Ultramel AKA Ultraorange) and put them side by side so that we know that there's only one of each being shown - or label the photo you've posted above with what you believe each to be?

I think I can see one Orange in there, and a couple that might be Amels, but I wouldn't want to guess which ones are Ultraorange vs. which ones are Ultramel.

Ok here is what i can do at this moment, and its better to see the hole clutch that appart becouse off the light and colors, Maybee its a littel to dark but, i don't won't to mess with it

It looks like the one who hasn't shed and is looking in the water bowl might be an Ultramel; do you think the other not-yet-shed one is maybe an Ultramel-Buf?

I must make a correction , today after feeding and all animals had shed the animals from butter het mot x orange are not all orange 3 amels and the rest is orange.
