What up with this???

Are people really this clueless?? I just joined a new pet forum and they have an entire subforum dedicated to animal rights... not animal welfare; Animal rights. :headbang:

Oh god.... leave now, and never go back. :puke01:

Yes, sadly, some people are just THAT clueless... I can only assume they wear helmets to get through everyday life.

It seems mostly to be discussions of how to rescue animals in need... there are some for PETA, but most recognize that it's a bunch of lunatics. It just always astounds me that on a pet forum there are ANY members who speak up in support of PETA. HSUS is a little more discreet... but PETA is out and proud man.....

Support of PETA is just... inexcusable. Like you said, they don't hide it.

The HSUS is sneaky; personally, I think they're worse than PETA for that simple fact. (Not to mention the Wildside Kennels massacre...)

Hmmm, how many people on that forum do you think let their dogs wear leather collars and eat meatbased dog food? :poke:

Actually, I prefer the word SNEAKY to discreet, lol!

Agree 100%! Any animal keeper who supports these groups is paying to kill his own hobby!

Ugh. When I worked at petco I had this cute blond coworker who said she was a peta member. I tried explaining what animal rights meant and how hilarious it was for her to be working at petco, but I don't think it got through.

One of the members made that same comment on a thread regarding PETA. So it seems like some of them do know enough to understand... just those woefully misguided others...

The one woman sends PETA money and while she acknowleges that they don't like pets, she also said that as long as they keep "fighting" against bear dancing, wearing fur, stallion fighting, etc, then she will keep sending them money because "those things have to go."

Does she not see that if you send them ANY money it goes to all sorts of things, including campaigns against pet ownership?

YUP - kind of like sending money (taxes) to the government - you don't get to choose which items they spend it on (sure WISH that was possible - popular wallet vote would be a great way to allocate funds, at least in some cases). The only difference is that you get to CHOOSE whether you send money to PETA and similar groups - at least it is not mandatory - yet!

Off topic - can you imagine how cool it would be to be allowed to send only 1/2 of your taxes into the general fund, and the other half to be earmarked for several programs that you personally want to support? People would complain a lot less about taxes if that was a choice! The phrase about putting your money where your mouth is would actually come true!

Got out quick. It's a PETA site setup to convert the innocent! Don't drink the koolaid!!!

That's a genius idea. They could send out forms each year in which you check mark programs you would like to support with your tax dollars, and the government could allocate it accordingly.
Back to your regularly scheduled program, I just loved that idea. PETA is definitely seen publicly as people who spend all of their funds to support animal welfare, when in fact their underhanded agenda is far worse than anyone could imagine. I was thinking how funny it would be to protest PETA at an Eagles game, when they show up to protest Vick. Not to support Vick, just to steal the publicity they crave, and shed light on what PETA really stands for.
