INSIDIOUS_OR_NOT?

Insidious?

No.

Stupid?

Yes.

Have I heard equally mindless things said about good old George W?

Yes.

Oh well.
:shrugs:

I don't see much wrong with it. The end is a little o_O simply because I don't see myself as a servant to anyone, but the majority of the ideas expressed in the video are *good* things. More love, more equality, more peace, less hatred, less illness, less pollution, less strife.

It annoys me to see so many people wanting Obama to fail. As I said in previous threads, Presidents are just trying to do what they think is good for this country. Birthers, the town-hallers who haven't actually learned anything about what they are so adamantly arguing against (I've no problem with those who dissent *intelligently* but calling obama a nazi or the antichrist is stupidity so repugnant that it scares me these people breed), the people like that are doing more to destroy this nation than any of our leaders possibly could. They seek to divide rather than unite. We all learned the pledge of allegience, we who live in this country. And while I was a child when last I actually said it, I still stand by the fact that I need to do what I can to support my country and that INCLUDES hoping that each president can make this country better in some way. Be that health care (the basic idea is sound), which at age 26 I am paying $260/month for and using maybe once a year, the end to that ridiculous 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy, or generally improving the climate.

The President, senators, representatives, governors, et al are servants of the people, NOT the other way around. Period. Never forget that.

Insidious? No.
Nauseating? Yes.

There was something about ensuring that "the memories of our children won't be forgotten" that kind of blew my mind. If I were less lazy, maybe I'd try to diagram the statement in hopes of understanding it...

Kewl... I'm not trying to debate... everyone's entitled to their opinion. Thanks to those of you who shared already.

Anyone else?

After thinking about it further, want to make sure there's no mistake. YES insidious from the standpoint that for whatever reason, hollywood's ""famous"" appear to have more important opinions than the rest of us and are being used to make the very clear statement that our youth should be serving the president . . . Seriously? Did you all take different government classes than I did in high school and college? Seriously?

I found it sneaky so insidious yes. They are the public servents and it does kinda have a cultish feel about it. The overall messages aren't the problem its the under tones that unnerve me:(

I don't care if it's (or more accurately, WAS) Heston or Sarandon, I've never given two feces about Hollywood celebrity political views. I'm a lib, but Ashton and Demi's opinions and pleas are worth less-than-nothing to me. Go romp on a beach and shut the heck up!

That's exactly how every American should feel, but we're the minority in that argument. """They""" (whoever """they""" are) know that.

One of the first techniques a salesman learns is to ask a lot of questions that have an obvious yes answer. Do you love your children? Do you want the best for them? Do you feel it is important for them to get a good education? Are you ready to buy my encyclopedia? That is where the video took me. Let’s free the world and serve Barack.

The next technique is to get spokes people that your target audience look up to or admire. Regardless of what you and I think of Hollywood, many or most people look up to the glitter crowd. They are idolized.

I do not pledge to be a servant to Barack or George W for that matter. I think the word insidious fits very well. Especially when you consider the target audience is children. I think this is an indoctrination film that will be followed by others that will be bolder with out the need to interpret.

at first i didnt know what it meant. then i googled.

1 a : awaiting a chance to entrap : treacherous b : harmful but enticing : seductive <insidious drugs>
2 a : having a gradual and cumulative effect : subtle <the insidious pressures of modern life> b of a disease : developing so gradually as to be well established before becoming apparent

so i say yes. it kind of seems almost as now we are supposed to serve are president in his needs. not him serving us and helping our needs. why is it that this seems to have happened in history before. idk if im seeing this right or not. can someone point me in the right direction if im not.

There is no right or wrong here... I just am asking for people's opinion on the video. That's all. :)

well to me its like hi, im obama, and im going to get all of these celebs brainwashed to capture all of the youth into doing a lot of work to take over your world. you wont notice this unless you got a set of your own and have opinions. but most of you dont so this will work and the rest of you will suffer. idk. new beginning to a superior being of people? lol. i have no idea what im talking about so im done.

If it were Bill Gates I'd be nervous, but Demi Moore?; um....not so much!. I listened to it in another browser so maybe that's why I didn't see the stereotypical hypnotic swirls on my screen, but this video had no pull on me whatsoever (kidding, take no offense). I do find celebrity/Obama love a little nauseating too, though, and I'd rather see a message built on the sick and poor instead of the rich and famous. That's sour grapes, though, and just like all political commercials I find myself bored to death watching them.

Hmmm, interesting choice of words there. He's already been elected president. Why does he need political commercials so soon? What is he selling now? Interesting.
