Really. I was considering some of the personalities that are often criticized on internet communities. Some of the criticism is justified, yet sometimes, people are what they are. Newbies with newbie questions. Portentious announcements. Spoor from drama llamas.

But, how boring would a community be if only the following responses were permitted:

"Nice snake"
"Look it up"


Pot stirrers keep us from sticking to the sides of the pot, and newbies make the broth richer. And all the other personalities have their place, too.

In my opinion both the master chefs (the mods) and the community members of a good community develop a taste test that distinguishes between pleasantly spicy and inedible (of course the Cajuns cross that line all the time :) )

I'm not saying it's always easy, but it takes all kinds.
 
But you know what happens if you have too much spice!

Well, it all depends upon the spice, what is considered "too much" and the chef's personal tastes. What may be too much for one is not enough for another! And every cook can claim at least one disaster (often more), but when you consider how many excellent meals are prepared in a lifetime, those very rare disasters are inconsequential and often something to laugh about later on.

I like spice and I like people that are enthusiastic about cooking....
We all like to think we can cook, and when your hungry, most things taste great.....
As long as we don't get food poisoning, all dishes have there place....
After all, the best recipes started off as an experiment on the cooks part...

Touche Chef Susan :)! But if the waiter gives too much spice to a weak stomach, well... Clean up can get pretty ugly, and subsequently their will be some patrons not returning for desert.
 
When it comes to chili, it is usually the beans, not the spices, that cause the most problems for people in the chili-eaters vicinity.
 
Pretty good anology Lucille. If I don't like the taste of a certain food in a restauraunt I just avoid that dish, like I avoid some of the threads. Too many spices not blending well in some of them, tastes nasty. I'm not adding my spice to that.
Can I be thyme? I know it's a herb not a spice but I really like thyme. Mmmm, like in jerk chicken!
