I'm starting this thread just as a check on my snake's overall progress and my care for him.

I bought him in April of '07 and he was tiny back then. No more than a couple months old, I think. Anyway, I figure he's about 2.5 years old, just shy of 4 feet long (He's longer than his viv, which is 3') and is just under 500 grams.

I feed him 3 hoppers every 10-14 days (About 35 - 40 grams of mouse).

No recent photos, although I can get some if there are any questions regarding how he looks. Anyway, I'd like people who have experience as snakes get older let me know if that sounds good or not.

I agree with Diamondlil...generally if you are having to feed three of something it is time to move up to a larger size and you can get adults in the 30-40gms range.

Now how about those pics???:poke:

I feed him several of the smaller mice because he refused a couple adults - for some reason they're significantly larger than the hoppers. I wasn't sure if they were too big, but I figured I'd go back to hoppers until he grew a bit more.

I've been out of town on business, so I haven't had much of a chance to get photos. I'll get back to you guys on that. :)

Great your snake is doing fine :)

But I have a question as I'm a new to owning snake. Is not to much 500g for a 2,5 years old snake and is the snake overweight? or is only a happy healthy snake?

500g is large for 2.5years but not overweight if it looks proportionate. If it looks more like a ball python, well then it's overweight. Haha.

Wow great looking wyrm you have there!!! He is a really looker and certianly does not look skinny.

Thanks!

I found out last night that while he was running around on my countertop that he took a dump behind a couple books and I didn't see it or smell it at all. Until two days later when I went to put the books away ><

I've been a little worried about over or under feeding as a snake's feeding schedule is so different from anything else that I just wanted to be sure.
