    Huge new viv?

I just got given a 4 foot fish tank to use as a viv for my Bella. So it's 48lx12wx18h inches, with a purple/pink (UV?) light running along the lid. Is this going to be suitable? Will it need extra heating, being so big? If so, will an UTH do the job? I have to make some adjustments, the main one...

    Handling my snake...

Okay, I'm a really bad snake owner. My snake is about a year old, and I handle her every month or so. I go away on work a lot, and get a friend to feed her, but he won't handle her. Every time I approach, she still strikes at me. If I leave my hand there a while she starts to ignore it, but it's...

    Territorial?

Corns... are they? I've had Bella a few months now, she's grown a fair bit, now about 18/19"... and when I approach her viv, instead of hiding, she'll get on top of her hide or log, get into a strike position and not back down again until I retreat. Just wondering if she could be defending her...

    argh! nightmare!

Literally. Had a nightmare that while some older people were round my house (I must have been a lot younger in the dream..about 13) I had Bella out, and they all suddenly grabbed her and started killing her! Like, twisting her abdomen really bad. Then I couldn't find a vet at all :( Then I woke...

so.. it's winter and it's COLD

temp in my viv has dropped from 83 (approx) to about 70! Any advice on how I can bring the temp back up? I cover the viv at night, and this stops the temp dropping even more, but what can I do during the day? ATM I just have a UTH

    Humidity?

Just how important is this? My tank seems pretty dry. The substrate is bone dry after a couple days. I have an ufh, which keeps the temp at about 80-83f. Bella's skin looks fairly dry, not shining like the pics I've seen on here. She always seems to be bathing herself in her water, which might...

    Feeding Success

So, after a disastrous attempt last week, which ended with Bella (she's a girl, full name Belladonna) slipping onto the floor, getting thoroughly upset, and retreating to a shoe for safety, I tried again this week, after leaving her totally alone all week, she has eaten 2 pinkies :D She's still...

    Bloodreds and "Cramcicles"?

Bloodreds and "Creamcicles"? Has anyone got any pictures of these? I saw them in the Manual, and they look stunning! I found some pictures of bloodreds, but it does seem as if the really dark red, almost black, has been bred out. Anyone care to prove me wrong? Edits: Only just noticed the...

    Watering Bowl...

So, I've had RB since Saturday now. I had a fairly large water bowl in his tank.. by that I mean a couple inches high, as I was supposed to get a shallow dish at the reptile shop, but forgot it (d'oh!) and this was the smallest they had. In those four days, I haven't seen him use the bowl, but...

    New at this...

Ok, so I have a corn (not sure of the type... it's got dark red splotches, with light orange in between. It's juvenile, about 12" long, maybe slightly more. I have a latge plastic Geo Flat tank, 18.4"x12"x6.9" I have a heat mat under about 3/4 of the tank, on the outside. The thermometer reads...
