A Perfect Strike!

Neat vid!
Our BP is really funny...we will hold the rat by the base of its tail till he sees it..then drop it in front of him.
Ive seen him CATCH it in mid air!!!
Scooby snack!

Reminds me of the dogs with his puppy dog face and catching his food in mid air....
:)

Wow, boy they are QUICK aren't they! That's probably why, I would venture to guess, that snakes getting injured by their prey in the wild is probably relatively uncommon. They've evolved to be able to eat without getting hurt. And the ones that are not quick enough and are unfortunate enough to get injured to the point of death simply won't be able to pass along their genes, hence survival of the fittest. Obviously your snake is FIT!

 Thank you for sharing your video w/us. It was really cool to see such action. Funny enough, I've seen both of my babies react the same way to f/t (I'm so glad that they do... can't play God w/the little mice). I keep trying to explain to them that it's not necessary...the mouse is dead. They just don't listen. :roflmao: You'd think that they'd have a clue considering the mouse isn't moving at all. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new baby, Sprinkle, is gonna do.
Very gorgeous baby ya got there, btw. :D

I would have appreciated a "live feeding" disclaimer. Luckily i was assuming that's what it was, and as soon as I saw the live mouse, the video got x'ed out. Not that I don't understand that some snakes eat live, but if I somehow became the owner of a snake who refused to eat f/t, it would be sold promptly to someone who can handle live feeding. I can't do it, sorry. And I think it's a risk I'm also not willing to take with my snakes.

Ugh.
I personally will not keep a snake that won't take f/t.
Yours should be worked with more...

I dont think you guys realize the nagging gets old after awhile. It is up to each person how they keep their snakes. And some snakes WONT take anything but live or shouldnt be fed f/t for other reasons. For example we currently have a snake that got in from outside that is way to small to survive the winter. We are letting it gain some weight from a reliable food source and guess what, if we fed this baby f/t mice then how would it learn to hunt once we let it go in the wild (away from the darn feral cats we have here killing its food source).
Im pretty sure the OP is probably tired of people saying they NEED to feed F/t or they NEED to work with the snake more. I know I am tired of seeing it when a person just wanted to share something about their snake they are proud of.

Not anything to be proud of, imo.
Especially when the snake WILL take f/t.
And I don't care how "old" the nagging gets....

Perhaps YOU don't care how old it gets, but I certainly do.

Everyone here is welcome to comment, but please don't assume that YOUR opinion is the one written on a stone tablet somewhere on a mountain, and treat anyone who has a contrary opinion like some unwashed ignorant buffoon because of it.

Some snakes will prefer live food, and you have to cater to what THEY want, not what YOU want. And a point that also needs to be pointed out is that not everyone has their snakes for the same reason you do. If some like to watch their snake be the predator that God made them as and kill their own food just as they would do in the wild, so what? Just because YOU don't care for it makes YOU right and them wrong? Please explain to me how that circumstance has come about here.

If ANYONE here has their opinions engraved in stone, please let me know who you are so I can make it an official site infraction for anyone to disagree with you.

Hmmm, I was searching for the reason why bammer made so childish responses the last days and i think i found it. I have to agree with Rich Z. OK frozen are the safest way to feed your snake, and OK it's not as hard to watch them eat killed mice as it can be with live. But bitching about it all the time because somebody choses to give live isn't the solution. You just gonna scare people away from this great forum. Try to tell them what the dangers are of live feeding but do this just ONCE. And if they chose to still feed live mice get over it... If you keep nagging you just gonna make this forum uncomfortable for everyone and people are going to be afraid about posting things because they'll think that they will get ridiculed.
Personally i think people should get those discipline points if they keep nagging and make the forum unpleasant for other members.

About the video: Nice strike indeed, my corn snake doesn't constrict its prey yet but maybe that is because i feed frozen or because of its age (he's a 2010 hatchling).

If a snake will starve unless live is offered, I am not wishing for a snake to starve. And of course you have to cater to the snakes needs. A keeper has to do what is neccessary for their animal.
But my opinion of those who feed live "just because" remains unchanged.
Always will.
At one point in my life I was all for reptile bans, just because of my feelings on this issue. And there are people out there RIGHT NOW who feel this way.
I have evolved a bit from that time, but I still see people who get off on a show as disgusting individuals.
As far as the vid goes, this is why I avoid utube at all costs, who needs it?
And I am glad that this particular specimen is gone....

Sorry Rich. I respect you. But when this topic rears its ugly head, I will voice my opinion.

I get why you feel this way, and i support your opinion! But don't keep nagging to people who disagree! Saying things 1 time is enough, or this forum is gonna end up with 10 active users because the rest doesn't have the nerve to say their opinion or they just went and searched an other forum. And i don't think that's what you want, is it? So accept the fact that you can't force your will on other people and stop letting other people feel bad. Again i am not saying that live feed is the way to go but i'm saying you should ease down on people who do feed live..

I do admit to being very stubborn. One of my downfalls.
