Calliope & Lagniappe, caramel motley girls

Caryl

BrightHope
These two lovely girls came from Serpenco last year. I've been meaning to do a photo shoot for a while and today the light was right - for about five minutes! Calliope has always been darker than Lagniappe, as you can see here. My order included 1.1 caramel motley het hypo, the female half of which is Calliope. There was a little billing glitch, so Rich included another hatchling. That's Lagniappe, of course, since she was a lagniappe. ;) (I've always wondered if she might actually be homo hypo.) Their personalities are totally different. Calliope is tolerant of handling but would clearly rather be left alone, whereas Lagniappe is an absolute puppy dog.

The first two photos here are Calliope. The last three are Lagniappe. She was better at holding still for the camera. Thanks for looking!

Thanks, guys!

I'll be posting Puck, the male portion of my caramel motley trio after he sheds. He has some cool "evil eye" markings that I'm hoping will turn up in his clutches. Gosh, it's so hard waiting three years!!!

Very very nice, Caryl.
I got a caramel motley female as an afterthought last year,...and I am so glad I did.
Hmmm...she may need a husband. ;)

Nice afterthought! I really do like all things caramel, but caramel motley is one of my favorite morphs. To me the smooth browns make a wonderful contrast to the yummy yellows. I definitely recommend that you get a husband for your caramel motley when the time comes. Not quite "oranges and lemons" perhaps, but you could think of the colors as a toasted lemon meringue.

Very pretty girls Caryl!!!! I love caramel, they really stand out (especially the eyes).

Hmmm...she may need a husband. ;)

LOL Eric, that statement reminds me of my son (8 years old) who always asks me "Mom, which snakes are we going to make 'get married'?" When we breed them. He doesn't quite have the 'birds and the bees' concept yet and thinks that the snakes have to 'get married' to lay eggs.

Sweet Southern names Caryl. Do you pronounce Calliope "Cally - OHHP" like we do here in N'awlins?

Tara, that's so cute! I was given a pony for my kindergarten graduation present. I remember being excited when she was "going to get married and have a baby." I was really frustrated that no one would let me attend the wedding, or even explain why I couldn't. ;)

I'm glad you like the Southern flavor, Dave! I confess to pronouncing "Calliope" Greek fashion, Cal-LIE-oh-pee (she's actually named for the muse of poetry), but I may have to reconsider. I'm not sure I've actually heard anyone say that word since moving here in '98 but my daddy said it the way you spelled it. I hadn't thought about that at all. Thanks for triggering a sweet memory!

Yeah, Calliope is the pipe organs they play on the river boats. Cally-Ohhp is the street name. :D

Daddy couldn't read music, but he could play absolutely anything on an organ! We always had one, and Daddy at the keyboard was a frequent sight and sound when I was growing up. He loved to hear a calliope being played and was always thrilled when he got a rare chance to play one himself. Sweet memories, indeed.
