Hooked for life!!
Sooo yea...I went to a reptile show today and please be aware "I did not plan on getting anything this trip! I swear!" lol...Well while walking around I came across this one guy who was selling these baby snow stripes for 20.00..Reason being was that they had yet to eat for him..so they were problem feeders..I looked in the cup and found this cute little guy that I just had to have.."I mean it..I HAD to have him!" lol..The guy said that he wishes me the best of luck but the stripes were just really giving him a problem..I've never had a problem feeder before but I'm hoping for the best for him as he will be very beautiful when he's fully grown and I could breed him to Maize and maybe see what her hets are as I do believe she has some hidden hets..but we'll see..anyway..sorry for the rant..without further ado..here is "Syn" (highly appropriate as I should not have come home with another snake but I did anyway..lol)

What a cutie:) Get a anole and try scenting his mice. I got my first non feeders last fall and I had them both eating within a few days.

Best of luck with the little guy! He's a stunning snow stripe! Try all the tricks, and then try them again. Sometimes, second time around they like something they didn't before.

Is there anyway to just buy like anole scent spray or something? Cause I really can't afford to buy a lizard just to scent a pinkie with it's smell...Any other ways to get a non feeder to eat?

Various preparations of pinkies to tempt the problem feeder:

F/T brained
live
F/T scented with: tuna juice, chicken broth, lizard (and yes, someone makes a spray, I just forget who)
F/T washed with unscented Ivory bar soap
tease-feeding F/T or live
putting the snake in a small (sandwich-size) brown paper bag with each of the above

20.00? O_O

Wow! You are so lucky to come across this little guy! Such a gorgeous snake! I wouldn't have passed it by either. I hope the little one eats for you.

Thank you everyone for the compliments and for wishing me luck..and for the advice given..I will take all of that into consideration..I'm gonna let him get settled in for about 3 days then I'm gonna try my first feeding with him..the first one I try I'm just gonna heat it up nice and warm and just put the pinkie in the feeding tub with him and see how he does..Who knows maybe he'll suddenly want it..If not then I'm gonna have to start doing some tricks...I also might cut the head a little bit..hopefully that will entice him a bit...Well thank you everyone for commenting and I will keep everyone updated :0)

HE ATE!! HE FINALLY ATE!!!! All I did was cut a pinkie in half (more so cause that's all I think he can handle at his size right now)..and just touched a little bit on his nose so he can get a taste for it...then I just set it down in his feeding tub and shut all the lights off..just went to check on him not even 2 minutes later...and...SUCCESS!! he already has it half way down!! This is sooo promising and I am soooo happy!! A great start for both of us :0) Thank you everyone for wishing me luck..Hopefully the next feeding will go as good as this one..I think I might keep him on half pinks for 3 or 4 weeks..then we'll move up to one pink...but this is just great that this happened and I am literally close to tears :0)

as a side note..I know it's really early to have tried to feed him already..but the guy did say he hadn't eaten since he hatched so I was kind of really wanting to get something in his belly..so please all new to snake owners..after you get your new snake wait for like 4 or 5 days before trying to feed and then wait another 2 before starting to handle..This was just a rare case where I wanted to feed him as soon as I could..and while he was eatting I re-did his little tank a bit..so now he's gonna have plenty of places to hide :0) Again thank you everyone :0)
