Hey yall!

ok, so over the last week i have put my snakies together a few times!
(i have mentioned this before) but everytime my male has really been going for it but my female jsut doesnt seem to want to co operate at all and has been making things hard for my poor dezmond! lol

anyway, all i was wondering is do the snakes leave 'evidence' behind everytime they hook up?
like, if there is no evidence was there no hook up?

im only asking because the last couple of times they have been together there have been a select one or two moments wer both the snakes tails have been aligned as if thre wsa a connection, and the snakes wer still.
only on these times i couldnt see the action from the angle i was on and there was no evidence left behind.

so, whats the dealio with the evidence thing i hear a lot about???

and if anyone has pictures of it i would appreciate it a lot!

thanks guys :cheers::cheers:

Good question! If it helps, in my limited experience, when I caught them in the act they always left "evidence". Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Look for yellow for action from the fellow, lol

ROFL!
It looks almost EXACTLY like what you'd expect it to look like. What type of substrate do you keep them on for breeding? Aspen is not recommended it can hurt either party, but newspaper and P.Towels are, plus it's easier to find the "evidence".

thanks for the replys guys.
sorry for the late reply from myself, i work all day sundays!

that thread was very helpful! i deffinately havent seen any of that in there tub!! lol

i put them in a tub with no substrate. i heard that aspen can be dangerous so i dont use it with them. is it ok putting them in there with no paper or anything? just a plain tub?
and i was thinking, i think 2morrow i wil put them in there at night and leave them in together til morning, so shal i just leave them both in or shal i put a water bowl and a hide in there as well? or will they be fine without either for one night???

Personaly, I would go ahead and get some paper to use as substrate. I would also leave the water bowl in the tank with them. I usually leave the hide too. I leave my snakes together until I do find some "evidence", unless I have another female that is acting like she is ready and I intend to use that same male. I'm not sure if this is the best way but it works for me.

Yep Jerry is right, It does not hurt at all to have all that, and I would use some kind of substrate, I mean newspaper is pretty cheap and it also allows the snakes to get some traction when doing the dirty and will absorb fluids to an extent, some of my corns like to defecate when the other sex is introduced.

ok thanks very much guys! il go ahead and set the tub up with a hde, water and newspaper for them and just leave them both together until i find some evidence! :)

hey guys,
i cant see for sure but i think that theres a chance that my snakes may be breeding now as i speak! i dont know for sure, these to much scrumpled up newspaper in the way but i think theres a good chance it could be going down!

so its the morning after the night before and i have to tell ya i found it hard to get to sleep! my snakes wer soooo noisy! lol
but for the time when i was watching them last night there definitely seemed to be a few minutes wer they wer both pretty still, there heads were together and from what i could see the tails seemed to be alined! but i couldnt see properly because they were half buried under all the newspaper which they managed to demolish! lol
so anyway i moved them both back to there own tubs this morning so i could inspect the tub and this is what i found..........

at first i thought this might be musk or something but i would have thought there would have been more of it if it was musk. And i dont think it smells like musk!
Is this the evidence that i have been wanting????? It has dried pretty hard as well since last night.

Difficult to tell in these photo's, but, looks like dried uriates to me.

You will know more when you place the twosome together again; a few more matings are beneficial ;)

b.t.w. it's still quite early in the season so don't be despondent just yet if they are less than eager.

Good luck.

I agree very likely urates. Just keep putting them together, If they're going to hook up, they will!

i know it was hard to get a good picture of it because of the flash. i also thought that it might be uriates but it was just the smell of it...i dunno, not like anything iv smelt before (not that i go around sniffing snake waste! haha).

my male is very eager! lol hes such a goon though, the amount of times hes tried to hook onto her face! its pitiful to watch!

will it be ok to put these two back in together tonight? or wait til tomorrow night?
