Hello Everyone
I got my first corn snake on Wednesday. She is a little baby (month and a half old) Anery. I bought her from a great couple who live nearby.
I have named her Adya, which is Sanskrit for 'first'. I'm studying Buddhism in school right now, so it seemed appropriate.
I bought some rubbermaid-type plastic storage tubs, shoebox-sized, and burned air holes in the sides (with a glue gun!). The tops snap on very securely and they fit perfectly on the top shelf of my bookcase, which is a place where my cat definitely can't get to.
I sanitized them with diluted vinegar and made a few hides out of small jewelry boxes I had lying around. I had to find something small enough for her- she is so tiny!
I'm using paper towels as substrate, and she loves to slither through the different layers... since I have had her, that is where she has been resting.
She has water and a UTH on the back 1/3 of the container.
I am so excited and can't wait to see her grow from the tiny thing that she is to a full-grown snake.
I am hoping to eventually breed Corn Snakes- the genetics fascinate me and they are such great-looking animals!
I started with a single snake, however, because I don't want to jump into anything before I get the basics down.
I have been handling her briefly- for maybe 2-3 minutes- in the evenings when she is awake. From all the advice I have read, this will make her more secure being handled- to see that after being handled, she always gets deposited directly back into her viv.
Well, this is a bit of a long intro, but I wanted to give a clear picture (plus I'm just plain chatty today).
