Continuing my theme of Snakes That Are Impossible To Photograph, may I present Draco! Draco is my male 2009 Lavblood of Doom. (Although he has been surprisingly calm the last month or so!)

Draco was bred by John Finsterwald, Colorado Corns. (Zorro). I've tried to photograph him before, but it's _so_ hard to capture his pale pink/lavender colors. Impossible with indoor lighting. I thought I'd try today, but at 2PM the light is very harsh.

It's 83F out, so nearly all surfaces are over 100F. The water garden was a nice, cool place to try for a full body shot of Draco. Draco was a little jumpy when I tried to reposition his tail! Since I found an anole in the mouth of one of the fish last week, I've been cautious about letting the babies swim in there!

The huge mimosa tree that I liked to use for photographing snakes fell down over a year ago. At least it's a safe place to set one down.

A warm snake is a lively snake! I tried a whole lot of my favorite spots hoping to find one that Draco would settle down on and hold still, but that was not to be...

So purty. I can't wait for blue skies out here. Too bad your Mimosa tree fell. It was always good as a backdrop. Draco looks good in the water, though.

Luckily, there are five million more mimosas in my yard! That pic with all the lichens is a medium-sized one, out front. I need some water lilies, though!!
