150,000 Reasons

i lived in S. Cal for 6 years, back in the 1990s. my dad was in the air force and we were stationed at Edwards AFB. we lived in a mobile home, it was better than base housing.
my parents tried to buy a house, but even out in the Mojave Desert, prices for homes were sky high....i remember all the tract homes out there going for $200k and up. and i couldnt understand why anyone would want to pay that much for a house that looked exactly like your neighbor's and it was out in the middle of nowhere.

A few years ago around here $69,000 would get you a 3 bdrm, 1300sqft, w/ basement home in town. In the country, acreage is only $2,000-5,000 per acre, depending on location and utilities present.

For $46,000

For $68,000

For $115,000

Despite the lack of high speed internet around these parts...I like BFE. ;)

OK Misty, consider yourself warned. You just may have me as a neighbor in 5 years. ;)

Ya the main thing is, if I had $500,000 there is no way I would invest it in what that could get you here.

I use to live about 30 miles east of LA. in an ok area. My parents bought my old house in 1994 for like 221,000. It was a bit much but my mom really liked the house. we sold it in 2001 for 324,994. We have look in the internet and when we went back last november a house simalar to ours had just sold for $649,999:sidestep: The diffrence only a few years make. It was a HUGE diffrence moving from superficial socal ( it really is sorta like laguna beach) to PA. Amish country...

The very nice houses in this yuppy neighborhood where I'm staying (my sisters house for the moment) go for exactly $150,000 for the one stories, more for the two stories. Personally I like a lot of land with a smaller house.

Where can you get a house for $150,000????? I'd buy it in a minute! My house was appraised for almost $500,000 and it's not even 1000 sq.ft!
