2-headed Rat Snake in the News

This was already posted in the morphs forum under the name "For those with deep pockets- check this genetic monster".

Yeah, I WISH I could have gotten that much for it.

I got what I considered as a fair price. If it is worth much more, so be it. If I had held out for more, it could have died the next day.

Hindsight is always 20/20, Rich. The type of people who will frivolously throw $150k on a 2-headed snake are more than likely the type of people who could care less about the care of it, it'd be a novelty. So I'm sure yours is in a much better home, albeit for a cheaper price.

Gee thanks Billybobob, I'm sooooo glad you told me.

Seeing as its a rat snake, and not a corn, I thought it more pertinent to mention it here. Considering I very rarely (once or twice a year) look in the Genetics/Cultivars Forum anyway, so the likelihood of me seeing it is slim and none.

The World Aquarium in St. Louis, Missouri, has been home to We, a one-of-a-kind two-headed albino rat snake, since 1999.

While it may not be the only two headed snake in the world, it could very well be the only two headed albino rat snake in the world . . .

PS. It's not worth $150,000 in my opinion, but like my wife said, anyone willing to spend that kind of money on that particular snake, isn't worried about what things are worth or how much money they are spending. My concern would be whether they'll know/learn how to take proper care of it?!

There was a two headed corn that Kathy talked about in her book. But it never laid any eggs so most likely it was sterile. Just because it's of an age to breed doesn't mean it can, and most likely you wouldn't get a two headed baby out of it even if it could.

What I don't understand is how they can say that We is the only 2-headed snake in the world like it. Rich hatched one out this year, and I am sure that there have been other ones that have hatched out also.

I guess it made the news around here last night. Didn't catch the thing, but my gf told me about it this morning. I was laughing my ass off when I saw the thing. 150,000? Serious bidders only? I think I'll bid $10 for it. LMAO!

No no no people! Starting bid is at $150,000. They are looking for a cool million for this "prime breeding aged" bicephalic rat snake! I love how the auction states "Charity Auction" What a load of crap that is.

All the radio station here in town are totally having a hay day with this. It's rather comical.

Q

Oh yeah and "pickup only"? they haven't got a clue how the reptile industry works and I highly doubt anyone in town will buy it. Jim at Exotic Arc still has his bicephalic 1/4 ruthiveni / 3/4 thayeri available! I think he was trying to sell it for $20,000 last year.

Oh wait...charity auction!?! That means your purchase would be tax deductable! Woohoo...get those bids in now!

WHAT??? If only they had it up for sale before the 2005 tax year ended, I need a good write off

Only being devil's advocate here, but anyone seen or heard of another albino black rat snake with two heads? If not, then yes, it would be the only one in the world . . . now if they were commenting on We being the only 2 headed snake in the world, that would be a different story.
