Sorry guys, I'm still working on the details. Got a place lined up that does the international shipping and will handle that part of this for me.
Just to give you an idea of where I am heading this year, the 2009 list is going to be primarily wholesale oriented. Prices will be VERY reasonable with the caveat that the animals are being sold right out of the egg. I will be offering further discounts if people will take them unsexed. When babies are hatching out, sending out a lot of animals that I don't have to sex first is a God send. So I am trying to encourage this from buyers. I will have to put some sort of minimum order in place, as few things terrify me more than to have 100 orders of only 1 $15 snake per box. That is an incredible amount of work for little, or no, return. Anyone who has ever boxed live snakes to ship certainly knows what I mean by this.
Anyway, the main game plan for 2009 is to sell as many animals as I can, as quickly as I can. Quite honestly, neither Connie nor I want to have to put up with another year of the grueling workload of having thousands of baby snakes hatching out entails along with the setup and feeding regimen.
I will also have to be pretty strict about the stipulations on the orders. Every year I will get pre-orders that sometimes change every other day with substitutions, additions, deletions, changed quantities or changed sexes. I try to be as accommodating as possible, but a couple of dozen of those kinds of situations going on, and I'm just a sneeze away from my brain draining out of my ears. You all have no idea how hard I try to not make mistakes in my orders, and will STILL sometimes flub up a couple here and there.
Also, I will get people who will want me to accept layaways, paying me something like $5 per week until the order is paid off. Really, I do appreciate the orders, but the paperwork and trying to keep tab of such things is getting harder to handle every year. And I'm trying hard to try to simplify my life lately so when I finally do retire, it's not by being on the inside of a padded room in some state hospital. So the whole idea is payment in full, so the orders can be shipped out without delay as soon as all the animals in the order have hatched out and ready to go.
Now this brings up another problem I am having. How do I put everything mentioned above, plus other thoughts I feel need to be addressed, on the shopping cart program without scaring everyone off? Basic rule of thumb of salesmanship is to not make it difficult, confusing, nor painful for someone to do business with you. And I feel like I am going to be violating that basic rule.
So that's why the price list is delayed. Still trying to iron out all the details, and I'm having trouble rounding all my thoughts together into something coherent, understandable, just not so large and unwieldy that no one will read it anyway......
But I'm working on it....
