2014 Amber Bloodred Tesseras

iculatr

NO...WIRE...HANGERS!!!
These hatched a few days ago, but we haven't had a chance to take pictures until now. Of course they'd be in shed, but we'll post updated pictures in a few days. The results within this clutch were quite interesting. Stay tuned...

Well, to start with, the parents of these particular hatchlings are a 1.0 Amber Tessera het Bloodred Stripe and a 0.1 Caramel Tessera het Hypo Bloodred Stripe. Seeing the Stripe gene show up in the mix was quite a surprise, since it was not listed as a het when the pair was purchased.

Pictures of the rest of the clutch will be posted after they shed, due to the variety. The main reason for the variety was that half of the clutch came from the Amber Tessera male, while the other half was from our male Buf het Hypo Amel Sunkissed p/het Charcoal. Yes, two males bred with the same female and the clutch was split!!! So, obviously this clutch will be confusing, at least until after a few sheds. Before they all went into shed, I think I saw the following morphs:

1. Tessera
2. Caramel tessera
3. Amber Tessera (or Hypo Buf Tessera?)
4. Amber Bloodred Tessera
5. Caramel Stripe Tessera
6. Caramel Bloodred Stripe Tessera
7. Buf Tessera
8. Hypo Tessera
9. Hypo Buf Tessera
10. Hypo

Buf looks very different from Caramel, so I should know for sure what they are in a few weeks. Needless to say, lots of surprises here, especially the hidden het of Stripe!

Wow awesome! Can't wait to see more pics

I'm confused or sleepy or both.
So she mated then laid eggs. And then mated again and then laid eggs again?

Or.
You are looking precisely at the product hatchling to be precisely sure who the sire was?

I must have been very very very sleepy.

So.
My only question is in regard to the above two sentences. Blue is a cool calm color. And I apologize for ending the second sentence with red (red ink raises blood pressures), maybe it should have been green. But I don't understand the two sentences, the last three words of the second sentence most particularly.

Sorry I made it confusing :(

Ok, so the Caramel Tessera female first bred with the Buf male, then the very next day she bred with the Amber Tessera male. She laid a total of 11 eggs. Her one and only clutch resulted in babies from both fathers. Is that worded better? :bird:

Yes, thanks.
It is worded more clearly.
I had never seriously pondered the temptation of saving a year or two by breeding one female to multiple males.
Is that a common thing?
Is it always easy to sell (or keep, as the case may be) hatchlings whose parentage is not always 100.00% sure and clear?
