3 guesses what lives here

Guess the whip scorpion's there get larger. Mostly legs and antennae...not so much the body. Very cool looking critters though!

Definitely can pick them up. They are very gentle... they are insanely fast though... it doesn't even look like they are moving, they are so fast that it looks like they are teleporting from one place and appear at another.

They are slow and deliberate when not alarmed...

Anyways, awesome thingies, really... I enjoy them immensely.

No,
I found no reliable source of information... some say 5, others 10...
I do know that the breeding group here is roughly 4-5 and only now started breeding so... I am venturing a guess that it's more towards the 8-10'ish.

Why not the males? Aside from the hazards of mating, would they not survive as long if they never mated or are they just programmed not to live as long?

The latter,
Males will die within a relatively short period of time once they reach sexual maturity... 5-6 years total is quite the "senior citizen" for a male T.
Females though? 15, and even 20 years are not unheard of.

Quite insane huh?!

It's kind of funny... you see, their longevity is actually affected by the number of sheds they go through- so people who over-feed to get a growth spurt will shorten their T's life expectancy...

I wasn't that much of a fan of T's at the time... but since I enrolled to AAT, I reckoned I should have a few arachnids... so I got these, and I should be getting T's in the not too distant future.

Hmmm, human woman tend to live longer too....must be the wild boy lifestyle! Thanks for the information. Really interesting!
