3 new corns!

I am now the official proud owner of three gorgeous wild-caughts! Two from West Palm Beach, and one from Miami.

Here's the pics....I did post them before, but then I was getting a male upper keys. The guy who was selling them, was nice enough to tell me he didn't think the keys had gained enough weight since he caught it, so he let me trade it for the female Miami. Actually, I am kind of happy that happened because I have a male miami for her.....I didn't have a mate for the keys. These are just from the add....they are quite upset with the shipping situation, so I'm trying to leave them alone. The red female is pretty big! She's my favorite so far. Still thinking of a name....

Here's her male, who looks to be quite a bit younger....His name is Jaegar (yeah, I know, it's a drink....but it means "one who hunts" in German....and he's quite a voracious feeder so it fits!)

And last is the female Miami, who is called Tayki (a Seminole word I found that means woman). Couldn't find many Seminole words :(

Her male's name is Quinby (Scandinavian word meaning "living like Kingship" because he's so picky. I've posted pics of him before....but with his new girl, I think his great contrast and her wide black borders will make pretty future babies :flames:

I spent quite a long time looking up names from different languages. I was planning on naming one Nidhogg, which is a norse word meaning "dreaded striker", it's a funny name, but surprisingly, being wild corns, none of them tried to strike at me. Guess I'll have to save that name until I get a mean one :grin01:

breed some nice okeetee looking-ish miami babys and i bet my legs you will have dozens of people lined up at your door to buy them :)

ive heard okeetee miamis discussed before but i doubt anyone has actually selectivly bred them enough to be worth of the title.

VERY nice!!!
That red female is very beautiful!!!
And the borders on Tayki are exceptional.

Maybe Roja (pronounced ro-ha) for that red lady? Roja is the feminine form of red in Spanish.

I've saw a pic of a w/c Okeetee with a light tan background instead of orange....is that what you mean? I have a hatchling female Okeetee (from Kathy Love), but an Abbotts would be even better for something like that. What would it be called....a Mikeetee? Okeetami? LOL

someone also suggested, last time I posted these, that I mix some bloodred gene with the red female. That would be cool.....and gives me a reason to get a bloodred hehe :crazy02:

Well.....my boyfriend isn't too fond of that particular language (we'll not go into why) (lets just say crappy apartment+tequila club nextdoor+truckloads of drunk guys in parking lot=bad memories). My Okeetee's name is Ruby, so that's out. Maybe Clementine....my grandma used to have a VW Beetle that color, and we never agreed on wheather it was red or orange. Hm.....I think I'm going to use that! :D

They're looking good! I like the name Clementine. That's what those little tangerines we get down here are called.

I'm not surprised at all that none of them has taken a strike at you- from my vast experience of two WC- my Maizey and the neighbor's guy- they are just not biters. I might get a small hiss out of Maize if I touch her when she's in blue in her moist hide and hasn't moved for days and I'm starting to get worried, so I touch her just to be sure she's ok. It's more like a sigh, actually.

I can't remember which was my favorite when you first posted them- I _think_ it was Clem. Quinby and Tayki make a good couple.

I'd name the red one Raksha, the demon. I don't know what language it is, or even if it is really a word, but that was the mother wolf's name in The Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling. With that red color, and that demonic look in her eye, it just seems to fit.

I can't believe that nobody has noticed this yet, but Jaegar is one of the most amazing looking cornsnakes I have EVER seen. If you decide to breed him and he has offspring that look similar to him, I'm definitely interested in one.

The other two are alright, too. ;)

Actually I think she is going to turn out to be a sweety! She is the most calm of the three and she doesn't even strike at her food, she just very carefully sniffs it then slowly opens her mouth and starts swallowing.

Thanks, he is really neat  He's not getting the melanin over his color like so many w/c's do. I'm affraid his babies would lose that if I bred him to the red female?
