48 degrees too cold?????

I would consider 60 degrees as the high point (the warmest you want them to get) and low to mid 50's is more ideal. The point of brumation is to chill them enough that they will not be active, if it is too warm they can begin to lose condition. I think I'd feel safer at low 50's than mid - 40's but I would personally be more worried about temps getting above 60 than below 50. I would not brumate the entire time in the 40's but I think a few days of it wouldn't hurt.

thank you.
its twelve oclock now and the temo in ther is like....46 degrees which im not too thrilled about. Im going to see how the temo is tomorrow and if theres no change il see about moving them both. I have found a spot (kind of cloakroom) wer they could go which is 55 degrees at the min. The only probs is that i dont know if the tubs will fit. Il have to try some empty tubs in the space they would be going to see if they fit. (i have spare tubs) lol.

A few days at 46-48°F is fine, but if it stays that low, I would recommend that you move them to where it is a little warmer. The cloakroom at 55-60°F would be ideal, IMO.

thanks susan. i moved them into there this morning when i got up because the temo under the stairs was still at 46. i feel much better now the temps are back up to 55 with them in a diff location

my tank is stayin at 23 C during the day and droping 2 about 20 C at night and the snakes seem 2 be fine i have also a heat mat under 1 of there hides for during the night if they get 2 cold they can move in2 that hide

º Very cool! I've always wondered! Thanks for that!

Here's what that does on a mac though.. º¡¶§ So just the Alt/0 does it..

I keep my breeders between 49-54 and i never had a problem. In fact, 2 of my breeder friends who have been in the breeding game for over 50 years combined keep their snakes in the low to mid 40's at times even lower and it seems the colder they are kept (within reason) the more eggs and less slugs they have.
