My male okeetee has refused eating again. He is 2.5 years old and about 850 grams. I thought maybe the frozen feeders were too old. So I bought a live mouse yesterday and did the deed in a homemade gas chamber with vinegar and baking soda. He still refused the fresh killed. Should I be concerned yet? Any suggestions? I will be going to the reptile expo next Saturday for new feeders.

He is also very active. He is constantly trying to get out of his tank. He succeeded 2 weeks ago, but only got to the counter behind the tank. Security has been beefed up and no more escapes. He is in a 55 gallon aquarium. Could this be due to breeding season?

This time of year a lot of males go on strike and are looking for mates. My boys went on strike for a while and finally started eating again.

Yep, I would say it's just breeding season. Just keep offering him food at normal intervals and he should eat when he's ready. Be prepared to go a few more weeks without him eating, though.

It certainly doesn't sound like he's in any danger of starving and the extra exercise might do his muscle tone some good :)
