50 PERCENT OFF Special Sale now in progress

Last night when I was updating my 2003 inventory, I changed the description line to read "Updated 03/17/04". For some reason the program went berserk and created two subdirectories called "17" and "04" where it moved the inventory data there. Of course, like a dummy, I thought I could just delete those goofy subdirectories and my data would percolate back up to where it belonged.

Wrong.......

So this morning I had to re-enter everything from scratch into the 2003 listings.

I do like that shopping cart program, but it has teeth where you least expect them.....

I bet...

I bet you never thought you'd be doing so much technical data entry when you first got into herpetoculture! LOL. Good luck with it. And I thought I had problems just trying to upload the occasional pic onto my website. :)

Yeah.... My doctor has a neat little program he runs on his laptop for dictating notes about his patients. It's a voice recognition program that seems to be pretty neat. Called Dragon something or other. Of course, when my net connection slowed down today when I was trying to hurry up and enter that inventory data, I doubt the program would have understood completely all of the words I dredged up from the bottom of my vocabulary bucket. Probably would have been interesting to see what it interpretted those words as, however. ;)

Rich, Dragon Speak is a nifty program it takes a few hours to set up so that it knows your voice pattern but after that... It makes "typing" term papers and emails a lot easier.

hoping

i hope rich is going to have some 04's left my birthdays comming up in june so im going to have to spoil my self for my 20th b-day...would love to see some bloods, butters and hypo lavs

bucks...

Well, I'm assuming my partner will be picking up the other hundred bucks, so between the 2 of us, we'd be spending $200.00 ;)
(ie, I only need to come up with $100 because the other $100 is covered).

Well I got a reply back from the developers of my shopping cart program about why my edit of the category listing blew up my data:

The point is you mustn't use slashes in category name. You should put &# 8260; instead of '/'

Of course! How absolutely stupid of me! Everyone knows that, right?

BTW, I had to insert a space character between the "#" and the "8" to get that text to display the way it was sent to me. But you knew that, right?

Sounds like one of those html special character issues... I'm not surprised, Rich, albeit the syntax is somewhat different (I don't recall special characters requiring #'s in html...). Given the code generates a webpage, it's not that unexpected.

That having been said, I'd probably make the same mistake the first time around... :)

Well it certainly was unexpected to me! I thought the category title was simply straight text and not a command line. Once those subcategories got created, there was no way to manage them. I suspect this is a bug that they are trying to pass off as a feature rather than fixing it......

There is actually an update to that software, but none of the developers there seem to know if it will destroy the custom programming done to my site. So at this point, I'm really not willing to experiment and likely give myself one more headache to have to deal with.

I would like to change the update date on that 2003 category title again, but no way I'm going to touch it! I sent out a big order today via Delta, so the inventory is out of whack again until I do another nose count.
