Funny thing about freedom, it really does work both ways.

Anytime politics are brought up you can be sure someone will respond in an opposite manner.

Anytime generalizations are made ( a huge sweeping one, by the way) someone will be offended and respond with a harsher tone. (yes, even sarcastic remarks intended to insult in a :grin01: kind of way)

 After all, Australia is just an island of inbred criminal castaways, right?

Hey Meg, Savagette was not a throw down.. Ever listen to Micheal Savage?? He calls his listieners Savage's and Savagette's.. Unite the Infidel's! You might actually get a kick out his political prowness, and share some very similair view points with the good Dr Savage.. I don't always agree with the guys point off view but intresting at point of view at that... http://www.homestead.com/prosites-prs/index.html

hehehe the thing is I could try to edge-a-cate y'all...but I'd have talk reeeeal slow-like!

Australias early history is actually an interesting one. The real 'criminals' were exicuted in England but there was a lot of poverty and the prisons in Britain were overcrowded with people who had stolen a loaf of bread to keep their children from starving to death. So most of the convicts who were sentenced to 'transportation' were really just the socioeconomic cast aways that England didn't know what to do with.

Either way, it's no skin off my nose, I'm a first generation Aussie, both of my parents are Italian born!

nice joe, you want to resort to childish namecalling, then fine. i know about how a bill becomes a law. ultimately it's the president who signs it, so in my eyes, he's ultimately resposible.

I believe it was you who started the name calling when you felt the need to call my President an 'idiot'. By saying that, you're implying that those who voted for him are also idiots because why would intelligent people elect an idiot, right?

wikkenkornman said:
you're entitled to your views, as i am entitled to mine. i've never bashed you. since you wanted to start it though, and since you're obviously looking for a fight since you replied to me 3 times before i had the chance to respond , allow to to tell you something. joe, you are a prick. a little smart-allec, angst ridden prick.

Heh, why thank you. I'm glad that you've come to the conclusion that I am a prick. However, you only needed to say it once, not four times. Perhaps you were doing that to get your point across, however I could care less. And building on that, do you REALLY think I give a flying rat arse what YOU think of me? You have shown your true intelligence on this thread and I have to say, it's not very impressive. I do believe there is a great quote floating around there somewhere, and it goes a little something like this:

"'Tis better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and be proven one."

Perhaps you might want to take that one to heart, eh?

wikkenkornman said:
you pride yourself on being the grand bubble burster, coming on here constantly being sarcastic with people, and bashing people that don't share your point of view. maybe you think it makes you look cool, i think it makes you look like a prick.

Is that so? Who came up with the phrase 'Grand Bubble Burster'? Was it me? Do some research, will ya? I don't bash people that do not share my point of view, I bash people when they display the IQ of a farm animal with ridiculous "truths" and other ideals.

wikkedkornman said:
usually when people act the way you do, it's because they're trying to overcompensate for some other shortcoming, or perhaps some personal insecurity, probably triggered by something childhood related. so what is it joe? not able to get a girlfriend? mommy & daddy didn't give you enough attention as a kid, or perhaps someone gave you too much attention as a kid,if you get my drift.

Since you feel the need to perhaps imply that I was molested, well that just shows everyone here how pathetic you are. I have a girlfriend of two years, so you can strike that off your little list. I was not molested, so that's strike two. And I had plenty of attention from my parents when I was growing up. So I guess that's stike three and you're out, unless of course you'd like to come up with anything else besides taking shots at how I was raised of the size of my manhood.

wikkedkornman said:
i'm sure you'll reply in your usual manner, further proving my point.

Is this the response you had in mind?

wikkedkornman said:

I could care less if you want to fight or not. I responded to your posts with questions that you either cannot answer, or choose not to. Either way, you lost the argument before it started, and then lost again when you felt the need to imply that perhaps I was molested as a kid.

wikkedkornman said:
in the future if you want to disagree with me,fine. atleast have the decency to do it without resorting to name calling.

In the future don't refer to my President as an idiot and then whine about getting 'attacked' for doing so. If you're going to dish it out, you better damn well be able to handle what you're going to get back in return.

wikkedkornman said:
i guess if i get bounced for calling you a prick, it'll just show that if you pay to come here, you can insult those that don't. good day ;)

Yeah, that's it. I emailed Rich before and slipped him $10 so I could call you an idiot. Give me a break. I'm only calling you what everyone else thinks, so really there's not a big deal.

And btw, I still am waiting for your rebuttal on the questions that I asked. I am most eagerly awaiting your responses.

Did none of you see the rolleyes? The comment was made and meant with a grain of salt.
Since you've arrived on this board you've continued to demonstrate that you are an anti-American bigot and you look down your nose at Americans. I saw the rolleyes. What a lame excuse. Gimme a break.

But if you all want me to defend my statement.....
Again, insulting to our intelligence. This is what I did say, this is what I didn't say, yadda. Your nasty comments are quite clear.

It's called free speech and it's something that you and your countryfolk seem to think is valuable. Is it only Americans who are allowed free speech?
This is yet another lame excuse. "Free speech" is defined as "Congress shall pass no law..." and this has nothing to do with whether or not it is "illegal" for you to say what you said, it has to do with you are in no justifiable place to say what you said. If you are an American citizen, taxpayer and/or voter, then it is your business. But when you just come here to make snooty and bigoted comments about how you think Americans are fat inbred uneducated and stupid, this is not a "free speech" issue and as far as I'm concerned you can stick it where the sun don't shine.

How so?

I'm friends with a number of Americans both those who are fiercely patriotic and those who would rather disassociate themselves from the nation. I know work for a British and a Dutch boss but number of my bosses for the last number of years while living in Sweden have been American expatriat workers and some have become good friends. I've visited the US as a tourist and had a thoroughly good time and went away with some great memories. I just think that when (the people of) a nation become/s too focused on how great it is and how superior it is to others, it looses the ability to stive to be better. The same applies to people in many instances.

Yeah I'll acknowledge that there are many things about Australia that aren't perfect, but I love the country. It seems to be that so many people I'm encountering here are so blindly patriotic that they refuse to see that they don't live in a perfect country and get annoyed whenever anyone addresses this. Note* Don't assume I'm speaking just about the US here, there are blinkered patriots wherever you go.

my point is: Politicians create the war, they should go fight the war that THEY created.

Our fine president is just barely a step above being a dictator. when he was gov of texas i saw one of his speeches about "the worst thing we could do as a nation would be to go into other nations and try to americanize them, make them do things our way", but what's he doing now? if you think for 1 split single solitary second that this war has nothing to do with those oil fields over there, you're in dreamland. it's a well known fact that EVERY oil venture that Bush got involved in went belly up. he knew that as long as Saddam was in charge over there, he'd never have access to those oil fields. so now, he gets Saddam out, puts in a Bush approved government.

i know Saddam was a vicious man, and needed to be outed, but the fact is Bush lied. there never were any weapons of mass destruction, and Saddam hasn't had the means to make any since the gulf war of the early 90's. That came from Bush's own secretary of defense.

Look at all the "bally-hoo" over stem cell research. 2/3 of america is for it. out of the 1/3 that aren't, half of them said they'd be ok with it if it was done with embryos that would otherwise be thrown out. this is all statisticly speaking of course. yet , bush says he'll veto any attempts to further stem cell studies. he puts his own beliefs ahead of what's best for the country as a whole. If 2/3 of america is for it, that's the majority, and in a democracy, majority rules. bush just needs to go E.A.D.

i'm done now.

Have you seen the film 'Three Days of the Condor', made in the early 1970s? Robert Redford, Faye Dunaway, Cliff Robertson, John Houseman (I think) and Max von Sydow are a few of the many stars. I don't want to spoil the story too much for anyone who wants to see it, but I'll say it involves oil as one of the main reasons for why America does what it does. It's a spy thriller and a great story, with plenty of shooting/action in addition to a romance twist. Max von Sydow is probably best known for his performance as a hit man, Joubert, who works for the CIA or pretty much anyone who wants to pay him. It could be a real eye-opener for some people, even though it's 30 years old. I want to find my old VHS copy and watch it, now that I've been thinking about it... It's a classic for sure, and one of those movies you might find yourself wanting to watch more than a few times. Not just for entertainment, but for the political view/commentary, which is still very much relevant in today's world, maybe even to a greater extent than in the 1970s.

Yeah, that's the ticket. I really AM fat, uneducated and inbred, but I'm so blinded by my patriotism that I can't admit it.

Way to support your ignorant stereotypes with another ignorant stereotype.

I have heard some of his show. After 911, I listened to a lot of talk radio to get the latest happenings, and his show was on there. I'm not sure that I would call myself a Savagette, however, but I am someone who is proud of my country and right or wrong, supports it's leaders. If this country was so bad, why do so many darn people want to live here!? I'm not usually one to get to worked up on these forums, but holy moly, that just burns me. Anyway, this is the last I'm going to say on the matter. It's not worth getting worked up over. I think I made myself clear on the subject, and well, that's that!

Hmmm.... typical polling type mentality. Only show the one side of the story that "proves" your point.

Try the smartest, thinest, so on and so on.

I'll bet that the odds even out when you look at both sides of the coin.

It just so happens that when there is a majority, the dumbest and fattest are included as well as the smartest and thinnest.

Exactly what point was I trying to prove? I believe it was princess' point, not mine. I just decided to dig a little.

Personally, I tend to agree with Chuck. Princess' posts tend to off-putting. She recently responded to a picture of someone's bird, stating that (I'm paraphrasing here) "Americans incorrectly refer to budgies as parakeets".

This is akin to saying "Brits incorrectly refer to an elevator as a 'lift'."
Try the smartest, thinest, so on and so on.
The smart and thin people tend to stay away from me. :crazy02:

I'll bet that the odds even out when you look at both sides of the coin.
What "odds"? There was no "probability" involved with a study that states an objective criterion ("obesity"). Granted, the "dumbest/smartest" states listing did not state how the various factors were "weighed" (no pun intended), and is probably less than totally objective. Then again, most measurements are.
It just so happens that when there is a majority, the dumbest and fattest are included as well as the smartest and thinnest.
Agreed, but depending on what - and who - you're capturing data on, there will always be a certain "skew". Thus, most polls include the "plus or minus" variance disclaimer.

jazz

Lady Liberty has proclamed these words to the world since her immigration here from France:
"Give us your tired, your poor, your huddle masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the goden door!"

And this is what the rest of the world has "sent" us for a multitude of generations, and is STILL sending us! And yet, even with a population FILLED with the "poor, wretched refuse" of the rest of the world, America became the richest, most powerful and the BEST place on Earth to live! So yeah...we ARE great and superior, and PROUD OF IT, and if you ask ANY arrival to Ellis Island or even the poor souls who had to sneak in via a raft from Cuba or locked in a refridgerated truck from Mexico, they'll tell you the same.

Or ask any of the thousands of South east Asians floating on a decrepit boats/rafts from Indonesia to Australia, or the Ex-Soviet girls who will give up their life and end up being sold at a sex-slave in order to be smuggled into Europe for a new chance. -or the countless Turks, Syrians, North Africans flooding into Southern Europe...

Susan, It's a global phenomenon that occurs in any industrialised/western nation.

Do you honestly believe Bush makes uninformed decisions . . . you are obviously a conspiracy theorist. 100's if not 1000's of individuals from around the world had to have supplied information in order for our President to make the decision to go to war.

Joe already refered to this, but I'll repeat by asking if you paid attention in history or government class. Even if the President vetoes it, 2/3 of congress can pass it without his signature.

Lots of good stuff posted here over the last few days, it was tough to catch up, but the above quotes stood out the most to me . . . .another dumb, fat, lazy, inbred, American who's better than anyone and everything else carrying my gun in one hand and a beer in the other . . . :wavey:
