8 ft rattle snake

My largest complaint (besides poor treatment) with rattlesnake hunting (or reptile hunting in general) is the lack of laws and/or bag limits. In most areas, reptile hunting is allowed with little to no attention to size and/or bag limits. The main exception is commercial harvest but I have seen many non-commercial outfits capture a LOT of critters.

In my opinion, some reptile and amphibian species could be hunted if done in a well-managed scenario with proper size and bag limits. These guidelines, however, should be imposed only after careful research has been conducted on populations and the ability to thrive under managed hunting.

The roundups are disgusting! I always root for a bite during the "How many rattlers can Jethro fit in a sleeping bag with him" contest.

I think I would too. Or "How many bites can Jethro get in a sleeping bag with rattlers?" That sounds like much more fun to me. ;)
