A Beginner Feeding Question...

I got my corn about a week ago, and the man I bought her from recommended that I feed her only one pinkie a week or risk obesity. But I've heard several people metion feeding their snakes two pinkies. Should I continue feeding her one a week, or two, what are the different results? She's four months old by the way, I don't know if that makes any difference...

One.

If the bump is small to non existant, you can up it to 2 pinks. With pinkies I dont mind feeding 2 per meal, but if a snake can eat 2 of one size, more often than not it can handle 1 meal of the next size up (fuzzy, or in this case, peach fuzzy).

And if you dont already know, do not handle your snake for 48 hours after a meal to prevent a regurgitaion. Your snake will likely hide on the warm side of the tank durnig this period (heat helps digestion). This is normal.

Congrats on the new addition!

Its also okay to feed a young snake every five days. They are still growing so much that you don't really run the risk of making them obese. I think that most people around here stick to that schedule...I feed my little one every five days and he is growing like a weed. In fact, he's about the same age as yours is. The five day feedings work great for me, you may want to try it too.

It is very difficult for a hatchling to become obese. A huge percentage of their diet in utilize by the growth process. IMO, the sooner that you can get a hatchling on fuzzies, the better off the snake will be.

yea I feed my 6 month 2 pinks every 5 days. and my year and a half every 6 days, because it was tiny and underfed when I bought her, so I'm bringing her back up to where she should be.
