A hatchling on a 20 gal?

Just make sure you have plenty of hides so the snake doesn't feel vunerable.
They're more likely to come out if there's more cover.

And it might be kinda hard to find the snake for awhile too, lol.

I have a 20Gal tank and am getting a corn snake as a baby, But my mate has his baby corn in a 20 gal tank with 3-4 hides and a little tree thing and it seems to be fine its been in there for 1 week and settled in nicely..

My smallest snake, Jasmine, 7g, ended up in this 20L viv by luck of the draw. She's doing fine. She comes out every night and crawls and climbs everywhere. I haven't had to hunt her down in it yet, though...

No light, snakes hate light! There's a 75 watt lamp (or whatever the new compact fluorescent equivalent is) on in that room in the evening. Jasmine has just started coming out about an hour after dusk. Thanks, I had to whip it up really quickly after determining I was afraid to put the babies in the rack where I had planned on putting them.

I would say it's uncommon for cornsnakes to come out during the day. Some snakes are exceptions. It's more likely for your snake to emerge at dusk. A brightly-colored snake is a target for birds if it is out during the day. A captive cornsnake may become complacent and lounge about out in the open in daylight.

I've also noticed that if I come home after dark, most of the snakes are not out, but after I turn lights on, (lamp lights- pretty low level) they all appear. Is it because they sense activity, or because it's like dusk? I don't know. it's just what they do.

I've noticed chompy is usually very active from about 8pm onwards...Usually this is around the time i turn my dimmer switch down too (I like to watch TV in lower-light.)

And at what time you can handle them? you can handle them even if they are asleep? or they have to e out of their hides

Well, I have lots to choose from, so I generally wait until they are out. But some would never come out- so I just go find them. Usually, though, I see one out so that's who I choose to handle.

Oh you have a lot of snakes haha I will only get one.... and I think I couldn't take care of more snakes, with one I'll be ok, I love handling them! hehe

I think you're right, its their time hehe and they are hidden all the time? or they can be there out of their hide spot
