• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

A note about earthlink (and possibly others) email

Lately I have been getting quite a few bounced back emails from my various sites that were evidently sent to someone with an earthlink email account. It usually looks like the following:
I apologize for this automatic reply to your email.

To control spam, I now allow incoming messages only from senders I have approved beforehand.

If you would like to be added to my list of approved senders, please fill out the short request form (see link below). Once I approve you, I will receive your original message in my inbox. You do not need to resend your message. I apologize for this one-time inconvenience.

Click the link below to fill out the request:

Well, I will be honest about this. I DO NOT click on that link. I really don't have time to fill out those "short requests" for this access, so I am afraid that you will just NEVER get emails from me. Sorry to have to take this stance, and I do understand the problem with spam, but I think earthlink is going about it in a way that just inconveniences everyone evenly rather then just the people who are trying to avoid getting spam.

If you have an earthlink email account or someone else who filters your emails before they get to you, you may want to try to check with them to see how aggressive they are about choosing which emails are spam and which ones aren't. Especially if you are posting classified ads on some of my sites, because quite likely prospective customers can NEVER reach you via email.

Just a FYI for those people this may apply to.

I have the same problem at work. Our sites send out automatically generated emails at a user's request. Earthlink then sends me the message you are getting. I have nearly 40,000 users. I am not going to bother.

Interesting... I have an Earthlink account in addition to my normal yahoo email (the yahoo one is what I use for this forum). The earthlink account gets used as my email for online purchases where I'm not expecting much communication from the seller (other than the confirmation and ship notice), and AFAIK I seem to be getting those emails OK... I'm not sure what triggers the 'block' notice.

It's Earthlink's SpamBlocker and when it's set to high, you get those bounce backs. I have earthlink accounts as well and when I went through to setup the spamblocker, it wanted me to input all email addresses that I wanted cleared. That's pretty ridiculous!

I do business via email alot, not to mention I belong to quite a few online forums, etc. It's not practical for me to try and add in everyone's email address that might contact me. Or like Rich said, expect people to take time to fill out the form. Quite honestly, how does the person that gets the bounce back form know THAT isn't a scam?

Oh well, I deleted Earthlink's spamblocker software, not worth the hassle from what I could tell.

Just my .02,

I have Earthlink as well and refuse to install their "Software Package" that includes SpamBlocker, Accelerator, and other things. Frankly I don't need some other program trying to run my computer for me.

I just use Incredimail (Outlook type of program) for my e-mail both from Earthlink and my Mainecoon address. Spam was non-existant on Earthlink until I used it to sign up for my new Paypal account. And within days I'm getting e-mails from the same spammers multiple times a day. And a quick read-through of Paypal's policy says they don't give out your personal info. Yeah right.

But the SpamFilter on the website e-mail is set to medium, it only blocks known spammers. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with e-mail I download via Incredimail to my computer or not, but so far if the sender is not in my address book the e-mails get put in my Deleted box, I just have to do a quick run-through every day to check for legit e-mails that go stuck.

But so far, no problems of not receiving mail via Earthlink from anyone on here and I've not heard of any complaints. Hopefully you'd tell us who we are if you're receiving bounced messages. =)

Sorry, but no I won't. I get far too many of them through FaunaClassifieds and this site to want to spend my time contacting anyone about it.
