A present!

After slaving away on the Kilmarnock house this past day or so, I came home to find a present! Tara found a guy looking to get rid of some juvenile house snakes for $20 each (a steal, really) and picked the darkest, most awesome looking one. He delivered it to her work yesterday. :)

Before anyone screams... we will take photos tonight and post them. We've decided to call her Wraith. Not sure if she's a girl, per say, but she was the largest of the lot, and they were most likely siblings. According to our research, she is an Olive house snake (L. olivaceus). She definitely has the red eyes that apparently are characteristic of the species.

YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOO LUCKY!!!!!!
I can't wait to see pics of her!!!

Robbie, the guy has THREE left, for a total of $60. His ad is on FaunaClassifieds, under kings and milks. Look for Eastern Exotics. $20 each is a steal, truly...

Here are the pics.

If I had the money, I would!!! (And the space... I've got a couple projects moving in in the very near future. ;) )
Your new girl is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!! Congrats!

Also, anyone with experience in IDing species, please let us know... we were thinking Olive house snake at first, because her eye seemed red... now we think it may have been the lighting upstairs.

This is the ID form we are using...

What do you all think? Black house snake?

Wow, I always had the redish orange ones listed as my favorites, but dang, the Olive looks great too! Congrats on the awesome pick up.

Ok, after looking at the guide I'd agree with Black... Olive is back at the bottom of the list, LOL

Because of the red eyes, I'd lean toward the Olive House Snake, but either way, it is one great looking snake, Lauren! Wow. She's beautiful!

That is so cool, she looks incredible, congrats. I haven't seen a House Snake like her before either, what a deal!

OH..MY..GOD!!!. I've been looking at House snakes on Kingsnake.com for a week now, just because I'd never really looked at them before, and I was really starting to fall in love with them. Now I really want one. My brother always said they were cool, and I almost saw one at an expo, but I couldn't squeeze in to see it. That one is incredible, though; seriously!. I love the light patterned ones with the light colors around their eyes, as oppose to the darkish brown ones, but that one is SO dark. Congrats on the pick-up, and I hope someday I can get one.

Ricky, you would have loved my girl.

Here she is:

And here, in her "cone of death"... they are good feeders.

I know jealousy is a sin, but damn; It's just not fair!. Really though, great photo's, and I'm extra glad to hear their good feeders. I'm not in any position to make an impulse buy, but I must say if the opportunity comes for me to get something new it's going to be a House Snake. They really are so beautiful, and the sharpness of their eyes is amazing. I just want to make sure I'm ready for one!. Great thread!.
