A "yay!" moment I wanted to share =)

Got an equally large boa?
So I've been a proud corn snake owner for 10 days. Little Jenson is housed a 10L short (I think that the official description), screen top, UTH with Alife t-stat on one side set to 90, shaved aspen substrate, two little rock hides (small ones by Exoterra), a small water dish, a little grapevine branch thingy and a small plant to hide in.

Jens has been everywhere and had seemed to enjoy sleeping curled up in the branch, in the top of the plant, buried in the substrate in the back corner, under the Flukers digital thermometer/hygrometer - everywhere but in his dang hides!

But my sweet little munchkin has finally decided that his warm side is the peeerfect place to sleep off his pinkie as of yesterday after feeding! YAY!

Just had to share. =)

He may have been avoiding the warm side before as 90 is far too high for a corn. Now hes got food in him, he needs to use the heat to digest however he could be far too warm.

The perfect temperature gradient for a corn is between 80-86. anything 90+ is in the region of boa/reguis temperatures. He could be stressed or he may burn himself.

I've seen such a wide range of temps listed from caresheet to caresheet and book to book, but I'll knock it down a few degrees. =)

I think if you ask around, all the professional keepers and breeders would say the same. 90 is a bit high, but knock it down 4/5 degrees and im sure he will do a lot better :)

Personally my temps are never under 84, and never over 86. I have mine regulated by a good quality thermostat.

Thats fine then :) I assume you keep your boids around 90 and were just mistaken with their temps :p
Numbers and math are not my strong suit...my fiance, 'Captain Overkill', is the snake cage setter upper...I'm the pooper scooper and rat killer. =D

I'm just pysched he's using his little hides...=)

And yah, bcc and bp are set to 92 on the warm side, 82 on the cool
