Adding Decor to Tank

Hello,
I am a newbie here and I just had a quick question.I have a creamsicle okeetee corn snake about 4 months old. I would like to add more branches and vines to my corn snakes habitat, but I was wondering if it would stress her out if her surroundings were a little bit different. I am supposed to feed her tomorrow and do not want to do anything to stress her out.

Thanks

Your snake should be absolutely fine with the changes - more decor means more places to hide for one thing! If you're concerned about overwhelming her (she is very young after all) just add little bits at a time :)

actually, adding more decor relieves their stress. more places to hide and less empty space. my vivs have vines, silk plants, grapevine branches and reptile hammocks. as my snakes grow, i take some of the stuff out to give them more room to roam.

Thanks
I am going to clean out her entire cage tonight and then I will add the new pieces. I got her a flexible vine to climb on and some more vines to hang on the back wall that should provide her with more hidding places. I am going to feed her tomorrow and leave her alone for the next few days, so that she can get used to everything. Thanks for all your help

Do they actually use the hammocks? Do you have a 'reptile ladder' that they recomend to go with it?

no reptile ladder, they dont need that. they can reach the hammock without it. and yes they do use them. blaze and shadow both will climb up in them and sometimes curl up into a ball in it. they also use it to climb over to the vines. next time i catch them using it i'll post pics. they both ate yesterday so now they're in their hides. usually they stay in their hides for 2-3 days after eating.

I can't remember who on here has one, but yes she says & has shown pictures of her snake climbing the hammock. I don't think they actual sit there, but they enjoy the access to the roof of the viv :D

I think I'm going to go to the store, I want to add some things for both my aesthetic pleasure and maybe something Nagini will climb on.

Here's my grey rat on his hammock. Blaze uses his too, but he's usually out at night. hard to get good pics of him.

Shadow and Blaze will both sit on theirs, not always in the middle of the hammock though. they'll sit on the sides like you see in the pic. usually Blaze uses his to get access to vines and branches near the top.

Tyger do u have more pictures of your viv, it sounds cool i want to see more of it. i like the idea of the hammock, i might want to pick one up. are they expensive?

I recently bought my first corn from a local breeder who happens to also work at our only locally-owned pet store as the herp guy. He has set up the many vivariums in the store with generous helpings of these hanging plants that make them GORGEOUS (plastic plants that come with suction cups on them, but they look pretty darn real). He also puts in fake ornamental grasses. So I took a design lesson from him home and went nuts putting hanging gardens and ornamental grasses in my little snake's tank. She's out among the stuff a lot and I take that to mean she's happy. Now she gets to explore the sides and some of the top, too, not just the bottom. I found her today sleeping up in the hanging plants. Very cool to look at. So I can see that more silk plants and vines are in my future (as well as more snakes!). Looks really snazzy.

i'll get some more pics this weekend hopefully. i need to clean Blaze's viv this weekend anyway. and the reptile hammocks arent that expensive. i think i paid $8 for mine at petsmart.

here's the 29 gal, my favorite viv. the 10 gals arent much to look at really and are pretty much so the same as the 29 gal just smaller. and i didnt want to disturb Diablo, he's in shed. i put shadow in there to play around for a bit, he's a ham when it comes to the camera. Blaze is sleeping in the cool hide anyway.
*Disclaimer--no snakes were harmed in taking these photos..shadow was moved back into his 10 gal afterwards.*

That's lovely! I bet they love their adventure vivs :)

I used to have plants and other various decorations up, but Charlie got so big he destroyed them. I love that though, so colourful, it must've taken you a while. Nicely done!

thanks. it really didnt take all that long. a little bit here a little bit there. as they get bigger, i'll have to take stuff out and swap it for sturdier pieces of wood, do some redecorating to accomodate them. but i think it's fun and better to look at than a few rubbermaid tubs.
