So my Striped is being a little stubborn about eating and hes been refusing f/t's for about a week now. Ive searched and read the threads and im going to look for some live pinkies, but since ive searched thats why im posting in this forum. I dont have any questions but more of a show.

Hes being a dork and admiring his f/t. He sat in this position for about 5 minutes. I was laughing and after the 5 minutes he started to put his head under the f/t and looked like he was trying to lift it. So instead of eating :eats02: he just wants to get to know his fellow f/t. :rolleyes: What a dork:

I dont know if it works I have never had a problem but I have read in many places that exposing the brain can trigger feeding response.

I heard thats for live pinkies, but I did it for kicks about a week ago and it still did nothin for him.
 
My stripe doesn't eat the week prior to a shed; that may be the case with yours. When she does eat, she definately likes to eat alone and in the dark.

This is for f/t pinks. Braining a live pink is just plain cruel. :cry:

Weird. I forget who i heard that from but it was someone on this board. I guess when i get my live pinks I wont do that then.

please don't............i like the movies saw and hostel, but even i wouldn't do that to a live one. kind of like just cutting it open and trying liver w/onions, maybe some heart with collard greens, or a nice........... :grin01:

My 05 okeetee phase also "admires" his food sometimes! lol When he is not hungry or doesn't feel like eating for whatever reason... He follows the mouse around but does not strike (he is on hopper mice which he is more than capable of killing on his own with no help from me and will not eat f/t even if it was readily available here!) Sometimes he seems almost "afraid" of the mice! I usually catch the mouse again and put it in a container with food and water until "Senor Cornflake" is hungry! :rolleyes:

lol seems im throwing away or refreezing the ones that I can! My lil bud is turning into a lil stinker. :twoguns:
 
Hmmm...has he eaten with you before and was he eating well before you got him?

Sometimes if Cornflake eats a really big mouse (means I have to stun it first.. ) he won't be interested in food the next week...how big is your baby and how much are you feeding him? It could be that he's just not hungry because he still feels full...??? :santa:

Bout 13''-14''. Has a noticable buldge when I feed him the pinkies so I assumed it wasnt time to move up at all. I fed him around every 4 days, but this last time was on the 5th or 6th day so I hope me getting off schedule didnt mess it up, but maybe i did it too much and he just needs to wait a little. Which is what im doing.

Hes not sick or anything. I have faith hes just bein a lil stinker and just wanting to play and not eat.

I can see when my guys are hungry...lol Especially the big one, he knows how to "beg" for food! lol Slithers up to the glass etc etc

Some people say it's good to skip a meal every now and then with the snakes, you have to keep them WANTING food...lol

Well it has actually been a lil over a week since he last fed so ive been waiting for him to be hungry! Still not accepting though
 
Help for Problem Feeders...

Someone told me about this method for problem feeders, perhaps try it, it may help, Marshall P..

"Well a new discovery has been found i tried it and it worked. This will shock u but if u do it right it helps for a snake thats not eating. Ready---- Ivory bar soap----- what u do is rub it all over the pinky or rat or w/e then wash it really good so that no bubbles apear anywhere on the mouse ( about 2 minutes -3 minutes) then the sent of the soap triggers somthing to the snake making it want the food item. Now it doesnt work with any other soap only Ivory bar soap. I tried it today for my spotted python because he wasnt eating and it worked. this discovery was made by ASU herpitology department. Way to go ASU!"

Ivory soap is a brand of soap I beleive that they make more than just the original ivory soap now try getting just plain old ivory soap I have never heard of this before but if its not eating just about anything is worth a shot.
 
I don't have any non feeders, but I washed a few pinks in the ivory soap body wash and the pinks were eaten in seconds instead of minutes. Makes feeding time go by REALLY fast. If one of my snakes is staring intently at a pink like that, I move it just a little with tweezers or the bottom (not the side with ink) of a pen, and they'll strike it and eat right away. Don't know if you've tried teasing. Oh and, I wouldn't refreeze. Pinks decompose fast, you might not be able to tell, but I bet he can smell the difference. I wouldn't eat stale old food either.

Which is why I threw away 99.9% of the pinks he didn't eat. I saved one and im glad I put it in a different spot than my others. Ill go throw it away now.

Im also going to pick up the soap tomorrow. Ill post how it goes!
