Adult Ventrals

I'm starting to wonder if my 4 adult corns are all overweight... They are all eating every 2 weeks (except for one who is eating every 3 weeks). Their belly scales seem small, for the size that they are. Like when I look at ventral photos, their ventral scales are usually as wide as the snake, but that isn't the case for mine... I will get pics of their ventrals tomorrow so you can see what I mean.

Sorry I'm such a pest on this site... I am just a worry wart.

Pics are always helpful! We'll wait for them, and you're not being a pest! You're a concerned owner that at least asks instead of guessing or ignoring.

You're not a pest. We've all been there. Like Susan said, pics are helpful. Another way to tell if your snakes are overweight is to look on their sides by their vent. If it bulges out a little, looks like "hips", your snake might be overweight.

This is the one that is/was overweight. He is getting a LOT better. I don't think he is that bad, but the two I think are pretty bad, are still digesting their food, so hopefully tomorrow I can get pics of them.

Sorry about the bad pics, I can try to get some better ones if needed. And I will get the other two ventrals tomorrow.

And glad I'm not a pest! I am just concerned and want to make sure everything I am doing is working! :D

The pics are actually very good, and personally, I think the weight of both those snakes is just fine. They are both adult snakes and there is going to be some "dunlop" past the ends of the ventral scales simply due to their size. But I see no "hips" on either of them. A dorsal view of both would clinch my opinion as you can actually tell more that way by seeing how the backbone area looks.

Is Sunset female? Right now is the period most females ovulate, their shape gets more rounded than too. In general I think females have 'softer' bellies which allow them to 'bulge' a bit.Try tickling or stroking their bellies with your thumb a bit to see what they look like if they tighten their 'abs'.

Sorry, I won't be able to post pics tonight. I wil tomorrow though definitely.

Anyway, yes, sunset is a female and is the one in my other post that seems to have eggs in her now. And thanks for the tip, I will try it.
